Not sure why you've chosen to be so defensive here. I guess you must be having a bad day (a week, a month, or even a year?).

If you make a claim like you have in this thread, but can't back it up with a link, you're effectively just trolling. That's basic internet 101.

As for calling BMWNA or talking to a dealership, pretty much everyone knows those things are sketchy at best for getting the facts.

The LCI M3 could very well be a 2011. Great. Maybe someone (not you ucla1995 - you're clearly too busy for us) can provide a link to this info?

That's definitely possible.

I am still very interested whether there is an official or at least known-to-be-reliable online source that can verify the model year of the LCI E92/E93 M3.

Strictly speaking, they don't need to change a thing to justify the model year change. They can bump the model year up to one year beyond the current calendar year, at any time during that calendar year. Remember, plenty of cars (M3 included) change model year in the fall routinely with little (and sometimes absolutely zero) changes.

I bet it's going to be called a 2010.5 just like the E46 M3 LCI is called 2003.5+

Surfclown, I'm pretty close to being in the same position as you but quite frankly I will be waiting for a March build. It's what the M Division have recommended (explained more in the "Comp. Package" thread).

But it's your money and that's what counts. Will a few extra features (if you're not interested in a Comp. package if it's available for the E93 - which is doubtful) then the minor differences between the 2010.5 (or 2011 or whatever it's designated as) version may not be worth it.

The only fact officially confirmed about the 03/10 prodution is that the 3 Series will be MY2011:

Quote:
2010 Special Order and Individual Ordering Deadlines

Due to the model year coming to an end with February 2010 production, please be advised that the deadline for Special Orders and Individual orders are as follows:

3 Series – December 18, 2009
6 Series – December 28, 2009
7 Series – December 28, 2009 (excluding the 760Li – EOP: 8/10)

There will be no exceptions to requests made after these dates.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to the new model year vehicles.

If that includes the M3 is just an assumption, but it could be possible that BMW simply changed the whole game of scheduling a 7-years model run and the E9x is the first model to bite the dust with only a 6-year run. So the M3 could be very much be a MY2011 as well by March and two years later finish production for good.

So if I order 3 coupe on Jan First I'll not get current 2010, but might get 2010.5 or 2011, for April delivery.

I can also confirm that the 2011 3 series and M will be here as of March/April 2010 according to the guys at our BMW dealerships here. Essentially the LCI for the coupes is coming out on the MY2011 which will be here for late March.

Again, I assume any car ordered after Dec 18th will be LCI, but if I lock in Holiday cash and Dec lease rates for 90 days would it be still effective for April, 1st delivery?

I highly doubt that but have you not called your dealership yet about this?

(On the other hand, sometimes information that does not mention the M3, but only mentions the 3 series, turns out to apply to both also, yes.)
This is what the ED specialist, also a forum sponsor @ bf, told me when I pre-reserved an ED spot for a M3 and a 128i last week. He was pretty affirmative that I will be ordering a MY2011 M3. What he wasn't sure is the hard pricing and the exact date the cars can be ordered (definitely not this month).

He seems to know what he was talking about when I asked about if the N55 engine will also get to the 135i. His answer was that he doesn't have any "official word" but based on his knowledge/info the N55 will debut for MY2011.

My personal take on the early MY change is that BMW wants to stay competitive w/ the engine updates and LCI for the coupe. I too thought it was going to be a 2010.5 but it doesn't seem to be the case. If you *think* it's definitely just a 2010.5 because of how it happened for the E46, try asking around your dealers to see if you get any consistent answer. Of course not every dealer is knowledgeable, but they might be able to find the info for you.

My dealer has confirmed it will definately be MY 2011 along with all the other 3 series which I must say sounds very strange.

Thanks for elaborating outie, much appreciated. I'll hold off asking my local dealerships because they've already demonstrated to me that they are not reliable with information of this sort. Unfortunate but true.

What happens in situations like this is that we usually get a scan of an internal BMWNA sourced PDF that comes from a dealership or other source that confirms the information in question. For me, I'll wait til such a PDF appears or until some official press release comes out. Or I'll wait for a well-known reliable internet source (southlight for example, or another poster known to have inside information) to come forth with the information.

I appreciate you posting what you have learned from your dealership.

IMHO, it wouldn't really be that strange for everything to become a 2011 at once. In fact, if you think about it, it makes most sense for them to either call everything a 2011 or leave everything a 2010. That's kinda what I was getting at with my earlier questions in this thread.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Mainly, the OP was trying to find if there will be a price increase with the LCI. Waiting 'til March will do no good. What he really wants is to know what the price increase will be before it is too late to order a pre-LCI car. In other words he wants to know whether the likely price increase will be justified by any new options and features of the LCI cars.

Yeah, I'm going to wait it out - earliest current production for E93 is February - so just pushing off a month. I think it will be worth the risk of the price increase. Especially since it will be a huge and instant depreciation hit if they are called 2011.

Hi all,

I am on the verge of ordering a 2010 M3 SEDAN. Does the LCI that everyone is talking about for March apply only to the coupe and convertible, or to the sedan as well?

If only the coupe and convertible when will the sedan recieve the same update, or did it already happen for 2010.

Basically if I order a 2010 M3 Sedan, what am I missing over a 2011 LCI? Again, referring only to the sedan.

Thanks,

Asheesh

The LCI for the E90 M3 happened in September 2008 at the start of the 2009 model year, along with the E90/E91 3 series.

Here is one thread where you can read about it:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159761

Note that some of the changes that happen to be coming in March for the E92/E93 LCI will also apply to the E90 though. This would be things like the advanced voice control for iPod/6FL devices, and I recall reading something about an improved SIRIUS interface. Nothing on the exterior will change for the E90 though. And nothing major will change as far as interior either, but there may be some minor interior changes that span all cars. Basically any part that is shared between all 3 series/M3 cars now that is about to go through a change will also be applied to all cars after it changes as well.
