I went in June.. wasnt too bad.. I remember it had rained a couple of days before my delivery get So I lucked out.

Yes, you have to pay for your way to Spartaburg Airport.

Your stay is covered for the night with Marriot. Marriot will pick you up at Airport and provide your dinner and breakfast the morning of your delivery.
BMW Performance Center will pick you up the following morning.

Your Dealership will request you car to be routed from Germany to South Carolina Performance Center-VPC at no cost to you. However, once its there and you change your mind you have to pay for trucking it back to your dealership.

Once you take delivery at the Performance Center, its yours to enjoy the drive back home

That's awesome! Beasts being at a "normal" dealership.

For those that have been; When did you get e-mails and/or the packet from them. They only thing they ever asked my SA was the name of the person coming with me. They never gave him a date, I had to call to find out.

Then they said they e-mailed my SA and I, neither of us got an e-mail. When I called they said they e-mailed him, but wouldn't e-mail me until later. I'm due to pick up my car in about a month.

The lady on the phone wasn't very helpful or polite... My SA said the same thing.

Another PCD question: Those of you that picked yours up, did it come with floormats? Does the PCD throw them in?

I've been reading the forums and it seems they are an option and sometimes the dealer will throw them in. They were never offer to me as an option or otherwise, I just figured they came with the fricken car, which they should at this price point.

Problem is, I'm not coming straight home after the PCD, I'm going to hit Charleston and Savanna on the way home... Would hate to goop up the carpet in my new car.

I was wondering the same thing. Worst case scenario I'm sure you could buy them at the PCD place...about $130 I think (Tischer has them for $99)

Anyone know??

When I picked up my car at the PCD last year, my SA ordered the floor mats to be installed at the PCD. There's paperwork to be done for that.

that correct Darwin.. I did bring also my rubber mats with me during my delivery.

Performance Center Delivery is a nice way to get the features of your new car explained in detail and also have a snap shot of its safety and handling capabilities.

There is nothing better than coming back for the one or two Performance Driving School after your delivery

Can someone explain the PCD delivery, I am in new jersey. Do you save on the car or is it just at the price your dealer gave it to you for

Its at the price your dealership sold it to you for. You just get a free drive event, night at a hotel, dinner lunch etc etc.

Thanks for the memories. I picked up my 2011 M3 in June. The worst part was looking out my window at the Marriott the day before and seeing the plant and knowing I was so close to the M but yet so far away.... LOL

My SA threw em in free and I brought them with me as the PCD was out of M3 matts at the time.

Does anyone know whether the Performance Center can install a Clear Bra before I take PC delivery? The alternative is to take the backroads back to Houston, and avoiding Mississippi, of course.

Make the time to do it. I have taken delivery of four of my personal BMWs at the Performance Center. I also send several customers there a month. You will not forget the experience.

You get at no charge:
-Meals and hotel accommodations for you and a guest included.
-A professional driving instructor that shows you how to maximize the "Ultimate" out of your BMW. You get plenty of adrenaline pumping track time.
-A BMW like the one you have ordered for use on the track
-Tour of the BMW Manufacturing facility where the X3, X5, and X6 are produced (scheduling permitting). This place is unreal. It's like visiting Skynet from the Terminator movies.
-A delivery specialist to go over all the features in your BMW

You just take care of the travel there. There is no additional fee.

Here is a link from on of my customer's experience. He took delivery of the first ZCP e90 M3.
e90 M3 ZCP

This forum has a ton of good information, but email me anytime with more questions.

Regards,
David

PCD is the route I am leaning towards as well. About a 750 mile drive home for me after the pickup.

Question for you guys who have done the long drive. From my understanding you need to modulate the RPMs when breaking in a new car. Highway driving does not sound like the best place to do that kind of driving unless you want to drive like a bobble head the whole way home.

How is it advised to properly break-in your motor over a 750+ mile drive home considering this will be mostly if not all highway??

There are some very scenic routes going North from the Performance Center. Try looking into taking the Blue Ridge Parkway to get you as far north as Virginia, for instance.

Great idea, thx TxFeatFan. I'll go that route for sure. Plan to take at least an extra day to do the drive so I can avoid all highway driving.

As others have said I guess the best part is the car will be a lot closer to break-in by the time I get back to NY.

^^a road trip IMO is one of the most enjoyable ways to get through the break in period. I took mine and drove to vegas and back.
