Up front my knowledge of wheels before this thread was buy from a reputable company after figuring out what I needed/wanted. Having read this thread in its entirety I learned more than anything else how much I didn't know.

I"m left with the thought that it appears that Advan dealt with the failures reasonably well internally insofar as finding the cause and correcting it as soon as they had enough data (failures) to do so assuming that Jordan's explanation can be taken at face value. In terms of public relations and their conduct on this forum however IMO they have failed miserably. As in if I own Advan somebody might very well be escorted off the property miserably.

Don't confuse Adv with Advan.

ADV kept its word.

still wished it would have been settled faster but at the end of the day I think both parties learned off each other

Hope that helps.
As to this ongoing question of an engineer...

That "answer" was totally unsatisfactory. There is no reason to only disclose this information by a private phone call. Hide the persons last name, give their initials, whatever. Just tell us the school, the degree and or experience and if they are involved in every design or family of designs from a strength, durability and testing point of view. Are they really a full time employee at ADV or does someone from another company do some work part time for you under contract?

If you refuse to share the information the only conclusion I can really come to is that you are (again) not being honest.

HRE shared their complete information without even being asked. It's time to tell the full story.

It simply really is not the case if you can't prove it.

I'm done with this line of questioning and pretty well done with this thread. The incessant avoidance has basically answered my question.

Does it matter if they hired out or consulted with an engineer assuming he/they do a proper workmanlike job of vetting the design? I'm bringing up this point because smaller companies don't keep high(er) priced talent on staff until the cost/benefit of hiring versus consulting pencils out. I know most of you know this I guess where I'm going is for me personally I don't care how it happened. I just care that it did happen.

so i just get an email sent to me. Adv1 Track Spec " Light Weight " ?

ADV.1, designed in early 2010 and released at the 2010 Sema show, the Track Spec line has since become one of, if not THE most sought after wheels on the market.

provides the combination of lightweight, high strength forged aluminum step lip rim halves with our deep concave forging profiles.

contoured spoke profile gives the appearance of a larger diameter wheel which was previously lost in a step lip configuration.

eliminates the unavoidable water retention issue found on standard "flat lip" 3 piece wheels.

Haters gon' hate... There's a ridiculous amount of people riding the "let's say random sh*t to try to ruin ADV.1's reputation" train.

What size are those wheels? Why isn't the whole wheel in the picture (someone could easily put their hand on the top of it to make it look heavier)?

My 20"x11" TrakFunctions weigh 26lbs. They are lighter than OEM ZCP wheels and 20"x9.5" BBS LM's (and they are 1.5" wider).

Here you go. The picture isn't pretty because it was taken with my phone, but there's the truth there.

honestly if you're looking for a track wheel, you wouldn't get a 20" wheel or a concave 3 piece wheel, not to mention a wheel that is both of these... so this discussion means nothing.

I guess I understand that you say they shouldn't call them track specs, but that is just a name. It isn't like they advertise that they are great track wheels, its again, just a name.

i.e. - Nike makes running shoes with a material they call "fly wire." Are you going to complain to Nike that they shouldn't be called fly wire because the wire doesn't enable the user to fly? NO. Same situation here.

/discussion
