This is why I love this site and will be back even after my E90 sells.
Thanks James

I just ordered a set of ST SR34s for the front from Zeckhausen! Should be here in time for first event of the season. Will run the Pagid RS29s rear, still have plenty left there. Can't wait to try them out!

John,

Are you referring to those pressures with the NT-01? With the M5 I've always kept hot pressures from going over 39 as the tires get greasy and start skittering in slow corners, but even though that car has -2.3 static camber up front, I need pressure to prevent too much edge wear.

A bit off topic, but have you (or anyone) using NT-01s ever had tread splice failure? I bought a new set last Fall to run at a Performance Center autox event, and after a total of maybe 12 runs on a 1:30 track, all four of the NT-01s started opening up on the tread splice. Of course two of them on one side were much worse due to rotation direction, but even the two on the other side were showing gaps beginning. I think the build week was 32 (i.e. 3212). Nitto refunded me for the tires and retrieved them to study what happened, but I've not heard back from them.

Even further off topic, I got to this thread after seeing your member name here in this forum and recalling our past discussions on m5board and how you were instrumental in working with Ground Control on the trick front strut design for the E39 -- that work has gone a long way in the E39 M5 community as many have benefited from it. Good job. Speaking of which, I simply can't fathom how long ago that was now.

Lastly, I just added a 2011 E90 M3 to the stable, and I *love* this car. The S65/S62 contrast is interesting, but man the E90 is fun to drive. I'm keeping the M5 (10 years already now), and I may well end up with the E90 M3 very long term too.

Regards,
Chuck

I've been, under a recommendation from a local full-on racing shop, running my NT01's at 33~34psi hot.

And, yes, I've had 2 on my set develop cross-slice (shoulder to shoulder) recently. And know of at least couple of other people whose NT01 also developed that slice. In fact, here's the recent discussion --> http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...=801222&page=2

Thanks for the nice writeup. I may have to give these a try after my current race pads wear out (I have an ST-40 on my R32). Curious, have you run dtc 60 or 70 in your Stoptech? Those have historically been my favorite pad in the OEM R32 brakes, and it's what I'm running now in the ST-40, but I haven't had much experience so far with different pads for the ST-40 (I just got it last year). I'm interested in how this new Stoptech pad compares. The stoptech pad seems a tad more expensive, but not markedly so (side note, one of the things I'm growing to love about the ST-40, so many different pads are available for it).

Yes, I had that same thing happen to a brand new NT-01 after one day back in Nov. Weird. They replaced it also, no charge.

I've got a set of sr33's on the way. I chose these because I wanted a lower bite pad. Stoptech told me that they have about 15% less tq than the sr34's. I'll be keeping my pfc's in the back to get some more rear bias. I'll report back on Monday.

I probably should have gotten the SR33s.

I also ordered a set of cheapo ceramic pads to tame the bite on the street as well.

I just put a set of SR34s on the fronts and bedded them in twice. They do seem a little "grabby", strong cold bite. Am going to Road Atlanta this weekend (let the season begin!!), we'll see. I'll give a Pagid yellow vs. StopTech Race pad comparo when i get back.

...Tallyho.

So what are you going to do with them??? Don't you need a BBK to put them in?
