M3 Undervalued???

Now that the third person has asked how much my M3 cost, I tell them to guess and they lowball her at $40k.

How an M3 could look like a $40kish car is beyond me!?! They ask, what makes it special, I look at my baby, think and say, "Everything."

Granted, to the non-enthusiast, non-car people, they see a 3-Series. So then they assume, eh, $30k. Little do they know that you can get a 328i for nearly $50k when all the option boxes are checked.

My M3 is fully loaded and has the performance exhaust and c/f splitters for nearly $80k. When I tell them the price they flip out. One of the three said, "You could have got a Bentley." My immediate reply was, "Dude, that's six figues!" They like the car and they love the SS color but I don't think the M3 gets the respect it deserves.

This is just me ranting and raving since I thought you guys would understand best.

I love my M3 and she is worth every penny I don't have and it does not matter what anyone else thinks (for the most part, let's be honest here.)

Well, technically, your M3 has depreciated drastically from when you bought it so they are not that far off on thinking it's a $40,000 car. While your's is still a 2013 it's only a matter of time before it comes down to what the 08s are at now which is below $40,000

well in 2.5 years, the car will be worth $40k-$50k.

IMO, my M3 is not worth $60k+ to me...$40k+, yes, so that's why i bought pre-owned.

Why on earth do so many people ask you how much your car cost? What kind of people do you hang out with?

You know what you paid for it ... she was new when you first touched her ... or as the Austin Martin commercial goes ...

"You know you are NOT the first but do you really care"

In all seriousness ... we all know that the moment we leave the dealership the car depreciates around $10K then every year depending on the milage and use another $10K we all know this and most of us don't care. Enjoy your car and if someone ask you just tell him "Enough like any other car of this quality"

the fact that you can buy a used 2008 M3 for like under 40k and a new one for over 70k. means for BMW to stop making e92s. LOL.

I don't know why anyone would buy a 2013 instead of a nice CPO 2011 at this point after watching the depreciation. No offense to anyone.

Because I want Laguna Seca Blue?

OP - a perfect condition 2008 M3, fully loaded, with 0 miles on it, has a blue book value just under $40K. Facts are facts. With all the M3s on the road, your friends are technically pretty much dead on, if on the low end, with their estimations for an E92 M3.

Interesting... thanks. I guess mentally she will always be my 80k baby.

When I see other cars, (i.e., Audi R8), I think, wow that's a nice $120k car. Not wow that's a nice $80k car. SMH.

I think the same way. In the end it doesn't matter, the price you paid is what the car was worth to you. Even if you bought used for $40k, in my mind that is still a $80k high quality machine thats just been used some.

I get the same thing here in Maine especially since its modified. You just dont see these cars here. Some folks at the gas station just 2 days ago said there were people taking pictures of your car and I was like really? I then proceeded to tell them these are a dime a dozen in Irvine and LA California and they were like I bet.

Then the price thing came up. How much to get the car like that, etc... So it does happen all over. This is like the fifth or sixth time its happened in six months here.

I find it so strange when people ask how much the car was. Besides being tacky, it's a question you can easily answer with a discrete Internet search instead of looking like a dbag. Also, who cares ow much it is? If I say $30k or $300k what does it matter to you? Rant over
