Thought about using 15w-50 oil?
So the previous owner of my car used 15w-50 oil but ive noticed 10w-60 is recommended. Anyone have any thought of if this is bad for the car or if its okay to use?

You shouldn't use anything but the 10w-60.

BMW made the switch to 10w-60 back when the S54 rod bearings in the E46 M3 starting failing and they didn't know why. Prior to that, //M cars came with synthetic 5w-30. I used to regularly switch between 5w30 and 15w-50 depending on the season.
Technically you shouldn't use anything but 10w-60 but your car probably isnt' going to explode into a million pieces if you use something different. |

It will do in a pinch to top it off, as its better to at least have a proper oil level than dropping in a qt. of 15w-50 in the car. Instead of 15w-50 BMW recommends that you use a 5w50 as an alternative. In fact the owners manual even states so, even viscosity down to 10w40 for a topoff.
