Tyre pressure monitor

Q1 - Is there any difference between Flat Tire Monitor and Tire Pressure Monitor?

Q2 - Today went over a pothole at a higher speed and a tyre puncture signal appears. However, after checking the tyres, they all seem alright. Is this monitor functioning correctly?

Thanks!

1. Yes. TPMS = dedicated sensors inside wheel, communicate wirelessly with car. FTM = uses existing abs/dsc sensors, which are mounted on the car, not in the wheel.

2. Maybe. Check the tire pressure, fill it if it needs air, reset the TPMS and see if the warning goes off and stays off or if it comes back. If it stays on or comes back, there's probably a slow leak.

It may be possible that you lost a bit of air on impact but that the bead reseated itself. As the 2nd poster says. Check your air pressure, refill your tires if necessary, rest the TPMS and monitor the results.

did what you said and after resetting the monitor, it was ok! noted that the pressure of the left rear tyre was much lower than the other 3 (although it looks ok from the outside). maybe this is the culprit triggering the sensor after hitting the pothole. Thanks!
