Question on which tire i should run, checking them out on Tirerack.

new rear wheels are 19x10.5 et 25.

should i run 275/30/19, 275/35/19 or 285/30/19?

Thanks in advance.

I would go 295/30, depending on what size fronts you do and how you plan on driving it. 285 is an awkward size in 19" (/30 is too short and /35 is too tall). 275/35 isn't bad, but that's gonna be a bit stretched for a 10.5" wheel.

the front wheels are the same spec as OEM 19. 19x8.5f et 30, will run 245/35/19 with 15mm spacer in front

The rears i am debating...i see alot of people run 275/30/19, Also if i do 275/35/ in rear do i need to do 255/35 in front? I see people doing that combo as well.

I dont plan on tracking these tires, normal street driving with occasional spirited driving.

275-30-19, the maximum rim width is a 10.

For 10.5 wide, you should run a 285-30-19 or a 295-30-19. I would personally run the 295-30-19. The car likes wide rubber out back, it's a bit tail happy.

for street... THIS IS JUST my opinion.... its better to go WIDE... better tracking... rears are a bit tail happy with smaller tires.

when i had 275 it was a bit tail happy... now i have 305... BIG freakin difference.... since your not tracking, id go for wide tires. on the rear.

That's incorrect.

275-30-19 is not a recommended size for a 10.5" wheel and too narrow of a tire. 285-30-19 is the minimum. I recommend the 295-30.

From a performance standpoint (track environment) the car does tend to like having wide rubber in the rear for grip as long as the front tires are wider too.

Meaning, don't slap on 305 rear with a 255 front. The stagger is far too large and will understeer.

oppps didnt read hes wheel size..

to add to it.. yes 275 is too narrow. most usually use 285-295 on that width.
on the performance wise... yes it all depends on what you want to do... (meaning setup of wheels size and tires) im assuming hes got 245 on front set up...

i respond accordingly to hes selection of tires...

Hate to say it but im running 255 front and 305 back... since i dont track and i dont go crazy driving on streets (drive likes a granma) i wanted this setup for basically looks. but when i go at it on corner... it works just fine... yes understeer. not so worried about it

interesting points of view...

I was planning on going 245/35 for fronts.

On the fence between 285 or 295/30. Leaning towards 285...

If i go with 285/30 rear whats best for front? 255/35?

if your leaning towards 285 then i would suggest 255 front. oh heck but since you dont track it... i would go 265 35 19 and 295 30 19.... but remember this is all dpends on your wheels size and offset... to run 265 / 35 front.. dpending on offset you might have a issue on rubbing on the inside.... i had this set up before but only rubs when im doing backing up or trying to park on a curb. (basically turning your wheel to a full lock will rub on the inner liner)

for 8.5 front i would recommend 255 / 35
for 10.5 rear i would recommend 285 / 30

but if i had to pick one since your not tracking... go for 255/35 front and 295/30 rear.

with that offst you shuoldnt have any rubbing issue. the only thing though having 15 MM spacer front not sure if 255 will rub on the inner wall liner.

Thanks, would the 285 be better for tracking?

Ill probably get flamed but I like the look of a slightly stretched wheel...lol

looks really fat 19x10.5 et22 295/30

A bit too skinny... 19x10.5 et2 275/30

with tracking not sure... since i have not track the car yet... not sure on whats best suited for tack events. im guessing staggerred set would be 265 front and 285 rear.

and non staggerred set up, some runs 275 all around. just all depends... hope someone can give us some inputs.

leaning towards the 255/35 - 285/30 combo.

Id like to keep understeer at a minium.

Hopefully the 255/35/19 with a 19x8.5 et 30 wont rub with a 15 mm in front.

---

did a seach and it looks like 275/35 could work for the rears. a few members with volks has that setup. Fronts can stay the same with 245/35.

Keep the same ratio as the stock tires. Go with 255/35 front and 275/35 rear. These will give you slightly better grip than stock and the larger size will fill out the wheel well a little more and give you a better ride.

Why the tiny front wheels?

275/35 will look stretched on 10.5. This is based on my personal experience. I hated it so much that I ordered 295 right away.

255 is the max width you can go on a 8.5 up front.

So, I would do 255/35 and 285/30 or 295/30.

I am running the 255/35 295/30 combo and the car feels great. IMO this is your best option. My wheels are 9" and 10.5" widths. 275 is too narrow and the 285 isnt the right height as the others have mentioned for the rear.

I would stick within the recommended wheel width range for the tire. You can find these at Tire Rack in the specs section. The Bridgestone S04 and other tires allow the 275/35/19 on up to an 11.0 wheel. I can tell you that the maximum wheel width will look a bit pinched with the minimum width tire. Go off the chart and it will be worse, but as others have noted, people have done it (and even car manufacturers have done it).
