Congrats! I'm about to do something similar...in some ways

I did consider the S2000, but convertibles are not allowed to run in the track events I go to unless they have full roll cages.

S2000 is great racer, and sounds good when revved up, but it really is not very practical, the 335i (both E90 or E92) is much better in terms of practicality. Less creature comforts and if you have gf/wife, they would for sure prefer the BMW as it's more comfortable and more spacious.

Make sure you get the thicker sport steering wheel with the Boxster S.. a couple of years ago, my older brother sold his '00 s2k for a new '06 (or '07) Boxster S with the standard (thinner) steering wheel and it's probably one of the only gripes I have with it when compared to the s2k..

well that, and very few manufacturers make gearboxes quite like Honda does imho..

I'd turn in my 335 in a sec to have another S2000 (if it weren't for my little crumbsnatcher).

Honda Reliability
Cheap ownership costs

Best manual gearbox of ANY car at any price
Great community of owners who usually honk and wave when passing

Cons
Inferior quality But the leather is of better quality and the car is bulletproof as long as you buy one after 2003 or new. The 2000-2002 models had an issue with cylinder 4 that affected a small amount of cars
Slow-er
No Creature comforts
No torque lol but thats what 6 gears are for
impractical
Seats are interchangable with other Hondas. House it in a garage, cause youngsters want to get your seats
You might get a ticket for attempting to power slide around corners. There are 3 points in my commute that i would "act up" in the S, but pretty much ignore in the 335.
Loud at 80mph. You might have to look at QuietCoat if you want to be on the phone conducting business while driving at that speed. Otherwise your clients will think you are in a wind tunnel

You could probably get a new Z4 3.0si that would be about as fast and handle close to the same that looks 10x better for about the same price right now. There are still a few '07s out there.

I never liked the S2K looks but that is just me. My friend has one and loves it

I had an s2000 for 5 years....all those bad things are true about the s2000 but I still miss my old s2000.

Something about that 9k redline and back twisty roads.....it can be such a fun car.

I perfer the 2000 to 2003 years with the 9k redline.

The Boxster is better car but that comes at a price.

Definitely an interesting trade. I love the S2K but I would not trade a 335 for it. But you're happy with it and thats all that matters.

I agree that the BoxsterS is probably a better car (i wouldn't take a Boxster (without the S) over the S2000). But the engine sound in the S2000 especially with an aftermarket intake is something to marvel. The engine alone in the S2000 makes the car an incredible experience. And i agree, I like the 2000-2003 versions. There is nothing like downshifting from 4th to 3rd on the highway and hearing "the lil engine that could" rev.

I have driven BMW's all my life and a few years ago I went into a S2000 and it was the worse mistake I ever did....I leased it for three years and every day I counted down untill I can get back into a BMW...Fun car to drive and all but to have it for a long period of time sucks!!!!

I advise if it is a day to day car stay away you will hate it after a few months...and if you do happen to get it PM me i have a real nive front lip for you..

Fun car, have fun with it. Beware of snap oversteer though. While it may be a better handling car, it is IMO a harder car to handle.

I came from a S2000 (AP1, however) to the 335i.

My family owned an 00 for 5 years, I know all about them.

I cancelled my order and will find a Boxster S down the road or keep my 335..love it way too much.
