aftermarket wheels not fitting on my 335i

Hi guys, i'm new to this forum as i just bought a e92 few days ago. It's my first bimmer so i don't really know much. My car currenty has some old 18'' 740i wheels on it and i just bought a set of VMR wheels from a friend that had them on his E90 wagon. I tried puting them on and they won't go on so i come to figure the hub bore is too big for the wheels. Did some research and our hub bore is suppose to be 72.5mm and the old 7series wheels i have are 74mm.

So did the previous owner change out the hub to fit different spec wheels? need some help guys. Sorry if i sound confusing

NO as a 74mm wheel will fit over a 72.56 hub with room to spare. the wheels were either just bolted on or put on with hub centric rings that fit inside the 740 wheel hub to convert it to 72.56

See if your friend's VMR's have hub rings still inside. Also check to see if the hub ring from your 740i wheels stuck to the hub of your e92. Sometimes, the little bastards like to stay on the hub instead of coming off with the wheel.

The 740 wheels actually fit snug on the front hub. I have not tried the rear yet but I will get to it. The VMR wheels I have came off a e90 wagon and from what I've been told the hub sizes on e90 and e92 are the same.

I use to work at a tire shop so I know about the hub rings.
