I just ran over a deer :(
just like the title says I just ran over a deer carcass.
I was on a two lane highway with a car following closely on the lane to my right. We were on a leftward turn when I suddenly spotted a dead deer in my lane. I didn't have any room to dodge it so I instinctively aimed it directlly at the center of my car (dunno yet if that was a smart move) and ran it over with a loud thud As soon as I ran over the carcass my cabin started smelling like a burger joint so I pulled over to the shoulder and got out to assess the damage Surprisingly I saw no body damage other than the belly pan that got partially ripped off The only thing my alpine white body suffered from was very little deer blood on the dead center of the front bumper I looked under the car with my handy BMW led flashlight and saw blood smeared all over the underbody and some flesh on the differential housing and the muffler, which was the source of the burger joint scent None of the tires had blood on them and the alignment seemed fine for the ten seconds I drove for afterwards. I hope the only damage is the belly pan Last edited by JS11; 09-23-2008 at 04:37 PM.. |

That sucks, it doesn't sound as if it will be a difficult repair. You might want to go to one of those touchless car washes where it sprays the undercarriage and get the rest of the deer pieces out of there.
Wouldn't that be a 4 lane highway if someone was in the lane to your right? Typically a highway is described as the the number of lanes in both directions.

I have come close on two occasions to hitting deer w/ the M3. I have hit 3 in the last 6 years. Pa just has too many.

That sucks...at least you punished that stupid deer by taking a pound of flesh of its @ss and smearing its blood everywhere.
I'm assuming you killed it?

Doesn't seem like the damage is too bad, thankfully.
I ran over a skunk carcass because the road was poorly lit, and 3 months later, on humid nights it still smells like skunk in the garage.

God that's bad, but quick question guys...would it be less damaging to go over something the size of a deer carcass with the front wheel rather than dead center?
