Turner Strut Brace v Dinan
Any thoughts on the Turner Strut Brace
https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1...-brace-e9x-m3/ vs the Dinan https://www.dinancars.com/product/d1...ries&mid=1114/

I can't speak to the Turner brace, although I've looked at it. I do have the Dinan braces, which I didn't tell a damn bit of difference over stock feeling wise (I assumed I wouldn't going into it).
That being said the Dinan braces are a significant step up in appearance over the raw aluminum stock pieces. They definitely helped dress up the engine bay (looks even better with the Dinan intake). Ultimately I think we would like a triangulated solution for a brace. Basically the Dinan braces with the Turner brace that would not only tie the shock towers to the firewall, but also stretch over the engine at the same time. From another post another member had mentioned that the turner brace requires some modification to the shock tower mounts. I didn't look into it any further. |

i have the turner brace and i was going to fit it to fit under the oem bases by modifying them. however, when i took off the oem bases to test fit the turner brace, the turner bar made contact with the air box lid, and still came pretty close to the plenum. i estimate it needs to be about 1/8" higher to clear the box and plenum. i'll be working on some custom bases to fit the turner brace with the oem braces, but i'm going to have to get some free time first.

roastbeef, that is pretty disappointing. I mean, what car did they check fitment for?
There's no way this will fit with the giant full CF airbox I'm going to install |

Holy sh^t that really close to the plenum! I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.
There's got to ber a better solution.

I picked up and installed Ultra Racing one for a year or so ago. It was originally white and I plasti-dipped it black. Possibly a placebo effect but the but the car feels a little more planted and for only about $140 it was worth a try

It was Amazon and it seems they've increased the pricing to $178 now. I've also seen it on ebay too.
I also have the same brand bar mounted in my wife's Audi too |

Forgot to mention that there were two rubber bump stops that I trimmed so it would fit better. See post #42 on the link below on the bump stops that I trimmed.

I have the same bar as r8ders that I also dipped in black. I have no issues with rub and installed without having to reduce bumpers on cabin filter housing.
There was a new one in the classifieds a little while ago, not sure if anyone ever picked it up...
