Just noticed the same type issue in my E46 M3 this morning. I have never noticed it before, steering was always solid. I thought it was the road at first... I did notice the left front tire was a little low on air pressure though so I am hoping that is the issue.

i had the same issue with my 2010, no issues on the 2008. it was from 75~85 that caused this. however when i took it to the dealer they kept saying hey are not allowed to road test beyond the speed limit. so after getting all 4 wheels balanced, air pressure checked i gave up. car now has 8500 miles and i just live with it now

The factory balance on my 18's with PS2's was perfect. Just replaced the fronts with PS2s again and now I have a slight vibration in the wheel around 75-85. A second road force balance by my stealer improved the situation a little - so I know its a blance issue. They swear the balance is spot on now - but I'd have to see it to believe it. If the Hunter machines have the ability to spit out data - get as much as you can since a slightly out of round wheel could also sink you.

I know this is probably helpful to no one, but I thought I'd chime in to say that I've had a minimal vibration in the steering wheel since day one when I drive 75-95 mph. It is really, really minimal, but it is a little annoying.

I did European Delivery and the PCD with the M3. In between, I told the PDC about the vibration, and one of the instructors tested it. He said he didn't notice the vibration. It's still there to me, so I am chalking it up to me being too sensitive to vibrations.

I just got back from the lake and have had this ever since I had the rear tires changed, the vibration is terrible at speeds 80 plus, figured it had to do with the new wheels, pressure etc is all fine.

Found my issue. The front had 5mm spacer's that when fixxed to the hub only left 3mm of hub centric lip for the wheel to sit on, Thus causing the vibration. I remove the spacer,s and the vibration went away. Later today I Installed 12mm spacer's that are hub centric both front and back, and still no vibration. If you have Spacer's check and make sure they allow the wheel Enough hub centric seating on the mounting surface. For those have a problem without Spacer's, Like mentioned before, It's Balance, Bent wheel, Tire thread separation, or some part of the front suspension.

I know some of you are keen for me to keep you updated on this issue, well a quick update to say my car has been at the dealers now for 1 week and they are still none the wiser!
BMW called a tech down from BMW HQ in the UK too take a look and he has confirmed (as I knew already) that there is definitely something not right and are still looking at it! Not really much in the way or progress but at least they have admitted something isn't right! Maybe they need to acknowledge that fact that this is a bigger problem than 1 or 2 cars as well!

That's quite a good law you have there. They would just outright deny there's a problem here stateside.
