Top Gear X-Pipe

Pretty good value for downpipes and center section X-Pipe with 200 CPSI High Flow Cats, primary Cat deletes, and it's all stainless steel too.

So it has both an H-pipe and an X-pipe?

Does that increase low end torque?

I really don't know. If we compare the design to the OEM exhaust we see that perhaps the "H cross over pipe" might to be improve rigidity - since the OEM design has a bracket in the same location. I don't know if the crossover pipe is hollow, but I'll speculate that it is. When the car was relatively new various companies had different designs. I think - if I remember correctly - some manufacturers offered some design solutions with a crossover pipe for forced Induction cars. It's been a while, but a forum search might reveal old threads about fancy engineering topics - such as exhaust gas scavenging effects, pulse waves and back pressure. As I said it's been a while..

Right, indeed I've heard of people with SC also splicing in an H there, but I think I also recollect something about one of the other full exhausts coming with an H in that same place, then also an X in the stock location… Akrapovic maybe?

It would be cool to install onto an NA S65 and put it on a dyno.

Sorry I don't, and neither does the website show the weight. However if you click the down arrow icon at the link below:
https://www.topgear.co.uk/bmw-m3-v8-...earch=E92%20M3
There's an option to "enquire about the product". Perhaps they will respond?

Looks like you are right. The Akrapovic has a cross over H pipe. See image.

https://www.baanvelgen.com/en/xpipes-system-bmw-m3

So the Topgear design seems to be a copy of the Akrapovic but with 200 CPSI Cats, and made of stainless steel instead of titanium.

So starting from the rear of the setup, twin resonators, then twin 200 cell cats, then what are those two bullet shaped swells with that appear to be O2 bungs??

It also appears to be thinner than the OEM pipes… Is it just thinner walls?

Interior diameter still 2.5"?

Top Gear's nearest dealer to you is in Utah according to their Dealer Network Map. Perhaps you could order one from their dealer in UT? Just a thought..

I'm curious about the catback exhaust. If anyone is running that, or has videos. The one's on youtube/google search seem to be old clips with bad audio. I've used TopGear exhaust pieces on my prior 997.1 Carrera S and 987.1 Cayman S before that. Really good value for the $$.

Found these two linked below. The first one seems reasonably decent for audio, whereas the second one sounds best around the 18s or later mark.

I believe the first video is their midpipe with oem cat back
2nd video is better, but a driving clip would be cool as well to hear it under load.

The $515 price point for their stainless catback is tempting, even with the $250 shipping to California. My car came to me with a V2 M-Performance exhaust, and while I actually quite like how it sounds, I'm not opposed to finding something with a little more of a deep/harmonic tone and an increase in volume. I'm not too big a fan of the really snappy raspy set ups.

Seems they've come out with a variety of E9X M3 exhausts now.
