That surprises me. JLC produces in much smaller numbers...I'd actually expect better quality from them as compared to Rolex. What issues have you had?

BTW, why did you have to pay full MSRP? Is there no room to budge on the black-face Daytonas?

Think about it - ever Rolex dealer in the world has a waiting list for this watch. The ability to buy one at retail is a gift (they go for 2-3k above retail in the secondary markets). Not a whole bunch of incentive for an authorized dealer to give any discount on a Daytona.

Rolex only makes two color variatons in stainless steel - black and white. It's a completionist thing.

Funny you should mention the Wynn...I met the watch buyer for the Wynn in Reno a couple of weeks ago...nice guy.

You won't have any more luck looking in the Carribean than anywhere else in the world unfortunately. Getting a Daytona is as much about relationships as anything else.

Interesting thing about the Carribean.......I got my SS/white gold Datejust Jubilee (diamond markers) from there for about $4900. I inquired here for the exact same watch and it's about 6K.

However, in the case of the Daytona, I bet it's the same deal everywhere. I love the black face on it ;-)

I'm not sure about the other reference, but I'm a big fan of the Yacht-Master. I've had mine for a couple of years and wear it about once a week at least.

I've tried that watch on, and I do like it. But, if I was going to go gold for a Daytona, I'm far more likely to go with the yelow gold, gold dial/black sub dial Daytona.

John, the minute counter/hand for the chronograph stopped for some reason and the marks/arrows of chrono zero reset aren't exactly pointed precisely towards eachother. Maybe difficult to do(because it's a mech movement) but you know, my father is a watchmaker, he told me he didn't want to take a look at it because it was only 2 months old(warranty)

Now the watch is in Germany, being tested(for 2 months already!!!) and I expect the watch being here in about 5!!!! weeks.

Nice way to go JLC!

why wait six years for a watch? r u trying to get it for retail? Try styrke from 6speedonline.com or tarrytown jewelers if daytona john can't hook u up. if u need to know when to press ur bets at the wynn, foxwoods, pm me...

go to the rolex service center on 5th... or u could try tourneau but not sure if they polish watches...
