I assumed you already watched every FR-S/BRZ video before buying yours, but if you didn't see this one:

Had a BRZ in between my M3's (sold the sedan when the house renovations went over budget + new roof)- it was a nice car for the money, but a bit gutless (even the wife made fun of it). Great handling though, and I really liked the seats.

Thank you for the input. Pretty much my assessment as well. The seats are absolutely terrific and it handles like a go-cart. I wouldn't say gutless but close. There is power in the upper revs but you def have to wind it out. I just saw a piece on YouTube from a reputable Subaru tuner that said the 2.0 liter flat 4 block in this thing can capably handle up to 450 horsepower...let the games begin.
It was a Wards Ten Best Engine pick in 2013. Just sayin'

I would leave it stock (other than the tires, a set of super sports will do wonders if you are going to track it). While there have been some successes with FI mods, you are not looking at a small sum or a risk or problem free proposition. Plus you nuke the warranty. All the non-FI mods don't really deliver bang for the buck IMHO.

In the end, I left mine bone stock. I had some fun and saved my money. Once my bank account recovered I ended up backing into an amazing deal on my M3 (honestly I was looking 335/335is, but got made an offer I couldn't refuse).

I AM wrestling with stock vs mod.

New exhaust

Just had the Toyota equivalent to the MPE exhaust installed today. The TRD exhaust is the perfect compliment to this flat 4 cylinder. Sounds similar to base Cayman inside now. I have yet to listen carefully to the outside but what I've heard so far sounds good. Had a dealer credit so this exhaust was a no brainer. Good quality craftsmanship as well.
