I listened to both standard and enhanced and did not think it was worth the 2K.
I much rather listen to the engine note and full boil than any song |

Love enhanced sound, much better than logic-7 in my 07 335 E92; don't even want to imagine what the stock sound is like. That said if you're likely to mod it anyway then get the cheap one and mod away. Never going to sound like a high end home system its just the wrong space for such a thing. Biggest problem I have with the enhanced sound is music sounds good which makes me turn it up then I can't hear the motor. End up turning it right back off next time I hit the gas

PUTING a Speaker system in your M3
You should just go with an after market system and get twice the sound for 2k !!! Rockford T1000-4 amp $750
HERTZ component system $600 with crossovers Selenium Tweeters $80 for 2 CAPACITOR 2 farad $120 Installed by professional $250 Now you have money left over to go take your girl friend out YOU dont want a custom BOX built for subs because that is like having a passenger in your car at all times weighing your car down and will kill your GAS and reduce your speed because of the weight They use MDF wood which is heavy as shit and goto home depot and try to lift one up by your self ! im just saying its heavy so you dont want that type of weight in your M3 !! Maybe a 325 or 330 but not a M3 ! |

I went to bug the dealer the week after placing my ED order over it. They let me sit in the car and helped me fiddle with the sound systems to compare them both head-to-head.
Honestly, the stock sound system is rather impressive. I'm very picky with my audio quality, and the stock speakers are far more than ample to play high quality music with great bass and treble response. Obviously, you're not going to get the fancy digital equalizer and the extra surround sound setup, but who the hell uses surround sound in their car, let alone what music are you playing that supports more sound channels than stereo? Definitely NOT worth the extra $1900! |

I went with the standard system and I am happy with it.
First of all I am an audio guy. I realize that no car audio system will ever come close to matching the performance I get from my home system, so I don't try. Secondly, I did not want the navigation system. The nav system option is a requirement for getting the premium audio system. I use the audio systems in cars for background music. With this in mind I find that the basic audio system serves it's purpose well. Overall the basic system is good, but not great.

speaker set-up in basic system?
Does anyone know the speaker set-up in the basic sound system? How many speakers total and the placement of them - also, does it come with any sub-woofers like the logic 7 does in the 335i?
Thanks |

x2 on placement. I believe the standard has 10 speakers and enhanced has 16, but where are the other 6 speakers? Are they combined speakers (don't know the technical term) or are there 6 open holes in an M without the enhanced audio?

I haven't read all the reply's, just a few. But it's all about what you want OP. I have it, I love it, many friends complemented the sound and one buddy used to install radios at a shop and said he was impressed with the premium sound. Is it worth the $2,000. It's better to have it and enjoy the music/ride than not having it, but to me $2,000 is not penny's so it was worth it. But if you want sidewalk cracking, "look at how loud my M3 is" then with that money you could get a system that'll shake the car apart. LOL! I'm not 20 anymore so a nice strong and clear system without loosing my hearing (I already work and fly loud ass helicopters & jets does enough ear damage as is) is good enough for me. I'm happy with it, I think you'll be too.
