Crazy to special order Titanium Silver?

Hi all. So, I bit the bullet and placed an order for an 2011 E93 M3 for September production. Do you all think I'm crazy paying $5,000 ($4,550 invoice) for Titanium Silver? I tried to like Silverstone, but it just had too much bluish/greenish color to it. I love Titanium. Just wish I didn't have to pay an ultra-premium price on such a common color for BMW. At least I get the color I want...

No, not crazy. Get the color you want. Others have paid extra for TiAg. IMO, it's no different than someone paying extra for Brilliant White.

Not crazy at all. You don't want to get the M3 and think it's perfect..... except for ONE thing you could have had differently. And knowing that it would have simply been a matter of paying 5 grand for it, which you are able to.

The M3 is already expensive. Get exactly what you want.

Plus, you get to choose a special interior trim if I'm not mistaken??

Exactly!!! And by chance, if you were thinking black for the interior, try an "Individual" request for silver stitching, it'd look fantastic.

If you can swing it, why not? You're buying this specific car because it makes you happy, not because you need basic transportation. So if you can afford it, why not get it exactly as you want it? Just be sure to post pics when you take delivery. It sounds like it's going to gorgeous.

I understand your want of the color and both sides of the argument, I just could never justify a $5k special color when the other colors are 99% as good...if the $5k is irrelevant may I suggest donating the money instead to a worthy cause instead of worrying about the slight difference between silverstone and titanium silver?

I debated the same but really ended up liking SG. I had two TiAG E46 M3s then a SSII M5. There was not a day that went by that I looked at the M5 thinking how much I liked TiAG. It was just too much baby blue for me.

There are plenty here that plunk down $4500 for rims to make their cars distinct...I don't think it is crazy at all....unless you are equally happy with a current color like SG...then it would seem nuts for the upcharge.

TiAg looks very proper on the E92, but I also agree that it's a shame they charge so much for what is a common color in general.

How much is the colored stitching btw? That would make black a much more desirable interior color imo.

Thanks for the messages. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think Individual interiors are a separate charge; 5k is just for "special" paint. Although I like Space Gray, I like titanium Silver better. Will definitely post pics when I get them. Expecting October delivery so I can get the September changes.

Get whatever you really want, because that's what will ultimately make you happy. Don't take anyones advice around you either as it's all THEIR personal preference.

I got a red car even though most people I know hate the color red. It's my dream color on my dream car.

Plus, for the most of us I am sure, if you can afford an M3, the 4550 (invoice) additional price of the custom color won't hurt too bad anyway.

If you're asking, in my opinion it's not nearly enough of a unique color to warrant the price increase. I'd have to do something more unique like Monte Carlo or Atlantis blue or Dakar yellow.

If you're questioning the color already, you don't want it and you don't love it.

Spend $5k on something that you know is worth the premium. Nothing wrong with Silverstone II and this Individual Color is not all that. Nothing special. There are a dozen other colors that are 10x better.

lol, TiAg is a beautifully done flavor of silver, and regardless of its availability on other models, it is VERY unique on the E9x M3

For me, I would say it's crazy, but I've already had a TiAG bimmer in my garage before.

To each is own...

In Ethiopia you could feed a family of a hundred a decade or more with that kind of dough, or you could purchase and destroy every Julie Roberts movie on DVD for at least a while. So don't overlook the possibilities. Some really good work could happen with the money. This is an important decision.
