No, it's not something you can tell through iDrive for example. You will need Autologic or the dealer tools to tell.

e89x-11-03-502 = 2.41.1.

I would recommend updating at your next available opportunity.
I went to the dealer and they said they have no reason to update it because there hasnt been any changes to the internals of the car (nav, electronics, etc). Is there a significant change betw my software and the current? How do i persuade then to updating it?

Thanks tom. Also i want to update the dct software. What should i say to persuade them to updating that as well?

Most times dealer-level technicians will not know what specific is changed, I wouldn't waste your time.

Updates are not provided free of charge unless there is a specific reason/campaign calling to do so. Be prepared to eat 1-2 hours for programming labor (depending on facility), or consult an independent facility with autologic - which more times offers much less costly rates than dealerships.

That's one of the issues with using the dealer. They have no choice but to update ALL the modules. With the Autologic we can update only the ones we want to.

Well, since my car is an 08, it was good to get all the bugs coded with better software. Also i've been experiencing a DSC malfunction at higher speed which isn't an issue anymore .
But def get your point !

Newer doesn't necessarily mean better in some cases.

Just got a new differential installed. Does this mean that the software was updated at the same time, or is that not an automatic update? I have an 08.

Updates are not provided with each service. Your receipt should indicate exactly what was performed during your dealer visit.

Please let us know how this works out. It looks like this update was never done to my car either so it would be nice to get both of these knocked out at once.

I went to my dealer the other day and they just said, "You are updated". But they will not show me what software version or even give me any information. Is there any other way to find out what software your running? My dealer is a pain.

^This is really cool! My dealer won't update my software since there are no issues that need to be fixed. But since I have your tune I guess I'm good. Waiting for my Akra Evo (already recieved from ESS the Akra-specific tune).

Dealer won't update my car. My software version is newer than the one described in the service bulletin. Good thing I have the ESS tune.

Should get my car back today from 60k service. I told the SA to do the update and of course they said :if any modules break, its on you to fix them." So I asked how much the modules cost, with a reply of "up to $1k". Great...now I have yet another excuse to upgrade to full CIC, haha.

Anyways, I will report back on my findings and results as soon as I drive it, car is an 08 6MT.

Update: update was done on my dime. Car is ready Monday, as the dealership does not stock tranny fluid as I asked to get it done as part of the service (dealership paid). Who does not stock oil? How dumb is that.
