I first want to give you guys a little background about my car. I have a 2013 E92 M3 which you probably knew from my sig. I bought it brand new with 9 miles on it and the car currently has 4948 miles and is roughly 9 weeks old. On Monday I was driving on the highway and I got the "Engine Malfunction, reduced power warning" and also the " Increased Emissions" warning on the iDrive. The redline went to 4,000 RPMS and the car was hesitating very badly and from what I could gather didn't seem to be running on all cylinders. So obviously I stopped and had the car towed to the dealership. SA told me that being late in the day they probably won't get to it till tomorrow and she will give me a call. So I get my loaner, which to my surprise was a 740i, and l'm on my way. As promised I get a call the next day saying that I have two bad fuel injectors one in cylinder two and another in seven. They have to order the parts and it will take a couple of days but they expect it to be done on Wednesday. So I'm thinking ok thats not to bad it could be much worse. This is where it gets interesting. The dealership called me yesterday saying that they replaced the fuel injectors in cylinders two and seven and they are working fine but now cylinder 8 has low compression and they have diagnosed it to something internally and are going to pull the engine to get to the cylinder and to expect to not have the car for at least a week maybe two Obviously at this point I'm pissed and freaking out at the same time. Really.. You have to take the f#$%&*@ engine out!

Sorry for the long post I'm sure a lot of you guys stopped reading halfway through but I would really appreciate any input or advice on this. Is it necessary to be this evasive? I have a couple of videos I will try to post of the noise while the car is running.

UPDATE: Here's the link to a video of the noise.

I'm assuming you didn't money shift, as they would have known by now. Given that, I'd say lemon. Make them give you another car. Injectors shouldn't fail after 8 weeks of use.

Did you over-rev during the break in?

Let them work on the car, what other choice do you have at this point?

Nope. Just rolling 65 through a construction zone in 6th gear.

Not at all. I know it's been said that the break-in is over rated but this being my first M I followed it to a tee.

I'd Lemon the car man the moment you can. Who knows what else can go wrong as they test, try and diagnose what the issue is.

Good luck and keep us updated!

You can't just arbitrarily lemon a car. It has to go in for the same issue several times and be there for a certain period of time before the lemon law applies.

Good luck OP!

For all those saying to Lemon the car...I dont think its a simple as just demanding a new car and the dealer saying ok. There is a lot of documentation and likely legal work that goes into the process. The dealer is fixing the issue and the car is still under warranty so no harm to OP other than a slight inconvenience. Now if the OP gets the car back and the same issue happens a few more times he may be able to pursue the Lemon law...

Keep us updated as to your progress... I'm interested to hear also.

I had engine malfunction once, but it was only a mis-fire on 2 different cylinders. After a quick fix I was on my way.

The majority of these engines have been extremely reliable, so even if they patch yours up, chances are it will be fine. Obviously your concern is warranted as it's your baby, but you're lucky because you are WARRANTIED and any problems will be fixed free of charge.

You may have to endure some headaches, but here's to hoping you get everything worked out. I'll be looking forward to updates.

I have to agree with Tech on the Lemon Law. My father lemoned a car he had to take to the dealer 10 times before he lemoned it! Even though its hard I'm really trying to be optimistic at this point and take comfort in the fact it's still under warranty. I will definitely keep you guys posted as I receive updates.

I had the same problem....I have a pic on my phone I can upload later if I remember. But they replaced some vacuum pump and the codes stopped happening. Mine was only triggered under load.

Perhaps those are common codes, not sure.

Possibly, but low compression can be caused by a host of things..the worst being worn piston rings which would be the worst case sceanrio
