CF Mirror Caps/Splitters Pricing Question
I'm interested in getting the BMW Performance carbon fiber mirror caps for my E92 that I have on order, and I have a question regarding pricing. Has anybody here ordered them WITH their car order? On BMW's car configurator for the M3 it shows "BMW Performance Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps" (plural) for $350. However, I contacted the dealer what pricing would be outside of the order and they told me they would be $350 EACH. Tischer's parts site also sells them individually for similar pricing.
BMW's car configurator doesn't specify whether that price is for one or two caps. Even more interestingly, when I select it, it gets added to the order as just a $350 option. See the screenshot here: http://i51.tinypic.com/15odo5u.jpg To add one more mystery, BMW's configurator lists the carbon fiber front splitters at $824, which is in line with Tischer's total if you ordered the left and right individually. Does this indicate that the mirror caps are also being priced as a pair on BMW's site? But for some reason, BMW lists it as "BMW Carbon Fiber Front Splitter", SINGULAR. EDIT: Just looked up the splitters on BMW's accessories site outside of the configurator, and the $824 is indeed for two splitters. However, the mirror caps are listed as $350 EACH on the accessories page. So, my question is, can the carbon fiber mirror caps in fact be had for $350 total if ordered with the car? Or is this just a mistake on BMW's website? Thanks! Last edited by jra85; 05-03-2011 at 12:53 PM.. |

Your dealer will have a port installed price sheet. The mirror installl is a bit complicated, you need to remove the mirrors and take it apart. Price is closer to $900 installed, I think. You're not getting them for anywhere near $350. I have seen them for about $500 for the pair - from a dealer - not installed.

I went with the splitters straight from the dealer. Think it was around $700-$800 installed. I was considering the mirror caps, but IMO they don't look all that great. I think they might be a little overkill with the splitters and the CF roof. Just my opinion though.

Great, thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss out on getting a deal if I had included them with the car order. At that price I'm still on the fence about getting them too, need to live with the stock ones for a while and decide. The install doesn't look too difficult from the DIY's I've seen here.
