05/05/2010 10:17 AM EDT Police kick off project to E.R.A.S.E. street racing Police units from across the province kicked off project E.R.A.S.E. in an effort to put the brakes on speeders and other dangerous forms of diving. At the MTO complex near Keele Street and Highway 401 Wednesday morning, officers kicked off project E.R.A.S.E., which stands for Eliminate Racing Activity on Streets Everywhere. At the event today, officials displayed twisted wrecks to highlight speed's deadly reality. Police want to remind the public that any driver caught going more than 50 kilometres per hour over the speed limit will be fined under harsh laws. Police want drivers to know that street racing is illegal and jeopardizes innocent lives. |

What exactly is "emission equipment"? Are they looking for people with full exhaust etc?

Although I do not condone street racing I guess it's easier to harass drivers than to try to catch criminals that could possibly shoot back and injure/kill them.
