I'm new to this forum. I'm ready to purchase an M3, either an '08 or '09, but the only thing holding me back is the price.

I've read that some of you have paid Invoice, below, above or MSRP. In other words, there seems to be a strong polarity in pricing (i.e., Invoice to MSRP) I'm looking for input so that I can figure what is the going price based on what people have paid.

So, here's some specifics to help you help me.
I live in Chicago (I've been dealing with Perillo BMW) and these are the specs on the car:
Alpine White outside, Red inside. The automatic transmission, Technology package, fold down and heated seats. That's basically it.

I've received a quote from a dealer for about 3K under invoice on an '09, but that doesn't sound too attractive. Especially since some members here have paid far less (Invoice or $500 above).

So, what do you guys think? Any and all help will be great.

$3K under MSRP is a pretty good deal for an 09' DCT. The only better deals that I have noticed are $4K under for 6 spd's.

2.9% Financing on 2008 M3 Sedan's and Convertibles. $2500 over Invoice for DCT and maybe $1500 over Invoice for a 6 speed.

You can get the same deal on a 2009 but the financing will likely jump to 6-7%.

Could you imagine what a baller you would be in Chicago in an M3 Convertible with the top down in the middle of winter....with such a deal.

$3000 off an ordered 2009 is a pretty good deal. There is one guy that got an ordered 09 for invoice, but that had extenuating circumstances. There are others that have gotten around $4000 off MSRP. Just talk to your dealers, and if you are willing to play the game then play the game, but just because others got a deal doesn't mean you will. There are always other things that factor into what deal you can get.

So true.. My friend told me he got a offer of 3750 off msrp but when I told the dealer, she offered me 1000 off msrp... Oh No, here we go again with the game... After 20 minutes of acting, she chased me to the car and offered me 2k over invoice.....

Serious buyers need to understand that dealers and sales people need to make money, but the opposite is true also; sales people and dealers need to understand that buyers are going to go where they save the most money. I am beyond the game of sitting down and going back and forth when it comes to a few dollars. Why anyone will blow a deal for under $500, or free floor mats or whatever, blows my mind.

Yes, I'm ready to buy if the price is right. Just like others have said here. If the price is right, then I'll do it.

It sounds like all that is left for you is just to go talk to some dealerships and get the ball rolling.

The answer to your question is that 3-4k off MSRP is do-able. You can push to get more off the price, depending on how good of a negotiator you are.
