E92 M3 vs Cobb Stage 1 08 STi
Ok. My friend just spent $800 on his brand new STi with a cobb flash. Of course he wants to see how well it would do against my M3. Before people say I can't drive, I've done some trackdays in my old Evo and even got second in a time trial event at Lime Rock so I know a little bit about driving. I'm more of a bike trackday guy but whatever. I am no drag racer though.
Anyways, I take his car out for a spin and already his car feels faster than my M3. Nothing new because the M3 feels slow . So we find an emtpy road to see. His car lurches forward and pulls on me. As some of you know and for others who don't, you absolutely have to keep remembering to be in a gear lower than what you would normally be in even when "pushing" the car. Even when i"m doing 50mph, I still have to drop to 2nd. I feel like I'm riding an R6 when driving my M. Even then his car hangs until we hit over 100mph then the M starts to move up. So, that was fun. It's not often I get to rev out my car and drive it how it's supposed to be driven. It does feel fast when you're at 6500-7000 rpm however. Yes I need to get it on a track. That's it. Watch out for those turbo rally cars. They're fast.Thought I'd share |

Either you can't drive or your car is way down on power. I easily pull my roommate's stage 2 STI and my M3 accelerates harder on top-end than my personal track car: 2007 STI..ATP 3071 turbo...headers....etc.

If you ever do a drag race from a roll.. make sure you are at the highest gear possible. If you are around 3-4k you will lose without a doubt against a turbo car. You need to be around 5-6k+ in order to at least accelerate as fast as a turbo car (such as an evo) otherwise he will beat you initially and you won't have enough room to catch up unless you are going to 140mph+

On the track the M is tons more fun, once they start getting heat soaked you'll pull on them like crazy.
