....M Finally Here

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I apologize in advance to the community.

My fellow Canucks,

So I Finally made the E90 Transition from the 335i to the M3. After reading many reviews on this site and knowing that higher costs to own this beast in Canada vs US; I still did it. Yes, I going to make this my DD. Within a couple months, I'm gonna have to add the infant seat; so if there are members you use the vehicle with their infant or children; I'd be happy to hear how you have managed to maintain the vehicle. (i.e. Leather Protector/Blankets etc)

Its been 2.5 Days since I own it and have .5 days to return it (Budds BMW Oakville). I must say that as much as I miss by 335i (RD Chip+Intercooler+GroundControlSuspension) Torque; there is something about this M3 that I cannot describe in words that you have not already read or heard about.

Now; I can't wait to add some personal touches to this Alpine White beauty.

I picked it up for $56K with 34K on it. It has the ZAD Package (Executive) and Sirius Satellite Radio with Carbon Trim on Novillo Leather Beige Interior.

I had to remove the stock 18" 219 Style Rims that it came with and swapped them with some 245/40/18 Hankook Icebear threads from the ol 335i.

I'll be on the Classifieds section later looking for some cosmetic mods to personalise the vehicle.

If there are any other members who have transition from a 335i E90 to M3; I'd be curious to meet hear your experiences (ups and downs) with the move.

I also moved from 335i to M3 2 years ago, and I wish I went with the M to begin with (could not do it though - it was not for sale in early 2007). Will be happy to share experiences - on one of the track days, for example

Congrats! Good choice! I'm a Canuck (from Vancouver) living in NJ now...did a roadtrip up to Niagara and TO within a month of picking up the car (used)...no regrets...never driven a 335...but just sitting and looking at the two cars...you know you'll never look back =)

Congratz! I have two car seats in they E90. One back facing and one front facing. One sunshine and one britax (frontier) for front facing. Got the sunshine initially for its compactness. But the britax is much easier to buckle. Can show u how they look/fit so u can make ur decision. : )

As for protection, I got those lion heart full seat protection. Folks on the forum have also recommended to add a cloth underneath for add protection.

U'll have a blast! My 3 year old was saying "wee!" at age two whenever we go on an on ramp. : )

Congrats on your new M! Please post pics.

I'll be transitioning later this year. Like you said, there's just something magical about the M.

@TwinBo: It was Greg Hubley @ Budds Oakville.
@UNivek: If you could send me some pics that would be great. Right now its just one "Rear-Facing" infant seat. I have my eyes on this Safety 1st Product.

Interesting Moment...Yesterday I returned my logitech G27 (imma avid simulation guy for GT5/FM3) . This toy had it all. I used it for a whole 3 weeks and played the BMW M3 Drive Challenge. So I had to immediately return; because this is no match for the real thing. Perhaps when my son-to-come becomes of age, then maybe again.

So the pics are coming.. I promise... but it wont do it justice. It's winter mode....I mean am I running Hankook Icebear's 245/40/18's on ET35 throughout the car (direct swap from 335i). Needs spacers or perhaps better offset ET15. I apologize in advance if I give the E90 a bad view to other ethusiasts

I decided to work from home today. I am still going through that "I fkn cant believe I got this machine in my driveway". Everytime I look @ it, I feel someone is gonna take it from me... (I had the same feeling with the 335i).... however with the 335i i was immediate to look into hp/lbs gains. With this I feel like it was built just for me by engineer's who spend hrs in testing and calibration, who the fk am I to think I know better and mod this car. Much respect to the engineering department.

Being in IT, i work within an engineering group myself and specialize in SharePoint, which i am really anal about. So in my own mind, I feel that this is the "Engineer's Car". Not the Architects, Not the Operations or Service Rep, Not the Sales or Marketing, but the Engineers Car. Precision, Reliability and Fault Tolerance.

I see the angle there. How about it being an oil and gas salesperson's car? That way the stock options offset the gas pump pain!

hehe... I guess we all have to justify sometimes the things we do to ourselves.. This was my logic.... and it worked.

for those who are wondering, just exactly what did you tell your wife/spouse when you decided to pickup one of these, well for me... I had her sold on reliabilty. She still struggles to call it an M3... shes says M4.. maybe shes trying to get on my nerves... I still had to prove to her that there are little to no documented issues within the warranty period of the M3, even though it costs more to own (monthly payments) and the km/l average is higher. Other than that, she like the colour ... even my ma said nice color. What is it with Alpine White? When I was living in Dubai, a white car meant "Car Rental".

My main motivator was Attila my mechanic; he drives one too with only 22K on it..(TechMax Auto); He convinced me to move out of my VR6 and into the 3-Series world. He told me that the 328 was better on reliability than my 335. I learnt that lesson the hard way (HPFP/Thermostat/Injectors/Camshaft/Turbos) all broke down eventually on the 335i. Warranty Paid, but you cannot put a price on Time spent in the garage and weekends stranded on the 400. Sold her @108Km for $17K. Sniff Sniff.

Congrats! I almost pulled the trigger on an 2010 M3 last year but didn't go through after much discussion with the wife. We are now house hunting in Toronto and the bidding wars going on for pretty much any livable property is driving me crazy.
