About the buying car by shipping!
Hi im trying to buy a beautiful m3 that is located in detroit
The car looks perfect and i love it sooo much so far.. but the only problem is that i live in Seattle Washington.. First i tried to take a flight there and drive it here but its too much work and i dont want the car gets 3k more miles.. so just decided to purchase it by shipping... but honestly i have no idea what i should do..... Hows the trade made in order ? like... Send money > seller sends the car > done or do i need some kind of security for it ? like using E-bay or other web sites. how does the trade work ? Please help the new future m3 newbie out ! |

I've been on both sides of this kind of transaction and in all of them I was a little nervous to be honest. In my cases buying I sent money and he sent the car, in that order. Ditto when I was the seller.
There are escrows that can be used to protect both parties for a fee of course. When I purchase anything from someone I don't know I use the power of the interwebs to help too...you can validate someone that way to make sure basic facts are in order before you blindly give them thousands of dollars an hope they send you something in return.

I have been in same situation. At the end I decided to buy a car that I can drive it to my place. I don't feel comfortable sending someone money and then he sends me the car. What happens if I sends out the money and he did not send the car? I am basically screwed. Best way to handle this is face to face give the check/cash take the car. Period!

Where is the car located in Michigan? Ill be happy to take a look for you... or try to help the best I can.
At a minimum, I would have a bill of sale with this address, and copy of drivers license. If he is a forum guy then I would hope the stress is less. -Greg |

I bought a car from Cali sight unseen and had it shipped to Georgia. I had them walk around w/ an HD video camera and hit up all areas. Car was great when I got it.
