Decisions...Decisions...Decisions

Need some help from you guys. I tend to buy a new car every 6 months to 1 year and i'm planning my next purchase. On the short list are the following:

2013 Mercedes SLS AMG coupe
2013 Aston Martin v12 coupe
2013 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe
2013 Nissan GTR
2013 BMW X6 M
2013 BMW M3 Coupe
2014 BMW M4

The Aston Martin I have now is nice but is not a track car and i'm looking for my next car to be something I take to the track and let loose. I threw the X6 M in the mix because i've always wanted one and no, I wouldn't try to track it.

I know the M3/M4 aren't as expensive as the Aston or most of the cars on that list but i've always wanted an M3 and i've driven several in the past and loved every drive. Now, I am thinking of getting one as a track toy and would like some advice. Should I buy an M3 now and mod it, wait for the M4 and see how that does, or...??

I know most will say that 0-60 times aren't important but I would really like my next ride to be a sub 4 sec car. It should be noted that I don't particularly care for the M5. The SLS, GTR and 911 TT are all obviously going to be extremely fast. Would buying a new M3, fully loaded with comp package and exhaust and then doing an ECU flash help? Thanks in advance. I truly envy every M3 owner I see. Love those cars.

Based on your signature, you've never owned a Porsche. GT3 over the TT. Do it! Do it!

I'd say get the GTR for the track and the current e92 M3 since M4 will also be turbo charged. Can get those two for the price of SLS or V12 Vantage.

Between the M3 and the M4, I would go with the M4 in large part due to the increased torque, lighter weight, and vastly increased modability - that alone with get you closer to the sub-4 second mark which seems to be an important factor for you.

But that said, if tracking or sub-4 second time is important to you - I would go with the Porsche (GT3 over the turbo if you're going to be a tracker - or stick with the turbo if you don't intend to track and it will be a road machine). Its one thing to take a car and spend a lot of money modding it to get it where you want, its another thing altogether to get a car that properly begins at the performance mark you want. Plus the new GT3's look stunning. (plus you haven't had a P-car yet as one of the earlier commenters mentioned).

Nissan GTR is nice, and its performance hold its own with the above-mentioned porsches - but its not terribly good looking, its interior is sub-mediocre, and its still a nissan at the end of the day. Lot of bang for the buck, but if money isn't as much of a determining factor, then there are better performing all-around cars, for not that much more.

Can't speak tot he SLS since i'm not familiar with its figures. Historically even MB's performance cars leave something lacking on the track, compared to other similarly priced cars. But they're fast street machines.

On balance, I would go with the Porsche. Echoing the sentiments of the previous posters, I'd go with a GT3, over the turbo.

Don't understand why someone can't make a decision on what car to buy themselves. A car is so personal and its in the eyes of the owner the reasons why they purchased it.

I get the feeling people just try to show off with threads like this. Its crazy common on here but i've never seen it before on any other car forums i've been a part of over the last 7 years of driving.

No one on the internet that you've never met before will tell you what car to buy, they will just recommend the ones they like the most. 99% of people on here will never own or get to drive anything that you have listed. I know i certainly won't for a long time.

Pick what car YOU like...and do it quietly because i'm sure no one cares...

A lot of attention whores here, or they're just plain bored or nobody else in their life gives two shits.

The cars listed aren't even in the same price range. Common.

Geez...

Ignore the hate, OP. There are plenty of enthusiasts that have no one in their circle that cares about cars like they do. I'm lucky that a couple of my siblings do, and a few guys at my work do, too.

Can't go wrong with the current M3 or Porsche.

If I was in your shoes, I'd make sure to test drive both the 997 and 991 GT3 before making any decisions...

Just keep your cars one month instead of six. Then you can own all those cars within the next year.

Then when you are bored with cars you can move up to boats, then planes, etc.

1. Meh. Maybe if you own tire rack.
2. Yes please.
3. Also awesome.
4. The fastest of the bunch. Also the most "Nissan-y" which may not float your boat at $100k
5. Its a big fast SUV- is that what you want?
6. Last of the old school M cars, NA V8 engine, proper hydraulic steering, ect.
7. Won't be out for a while.

If this were me, the Aston and Porsche would head the list.

With your criteria, get the Porsche Turbo and call it a day.

Get the AM V12 if you want to track a day or 2.... AM has unparalleled class.

No brainer. V12 Aston. Definitely the most desirable vehicle on that list. Great drive, great sound, good power, elegant, commands respect.
