Anyhow just finished and gave my deposit for one M3 I mean Model 3...

Wow some people are reserving two and planning on selling the second model 3 at profit right away... Kinda like flipping iPhones on the first day.

ehhh....might not work. B/c the $35k car buyer is more cost conscience, so in CA, I wouldn't pay $500 more than $25k to buy this as a 2nd owner. Might work for a $400,000 Lambo

ehh, I have to see the interior. Expectations set pretty low right now, it'll probably look like a Camry.

So apparently, the official unveiling will be at 8:30 PM tonight, when online deposits start....so I'll wait.

That picture got debunked... That's a prototype model X from a few years ago

Only a few more hours before I decide I want my money back

Agreed... Looks as small as a civic... But I guess for a smaller car this is the most practical shape. Kinda like the BMW 3GT.

I do like the standard all glass roof/ 215 range on the base model/ sub 6 sec 0-60 on the base plus faster options/ autopilot hardware standard with the safety features activated... So will have to activate full autopilot with a upgrade charge.

Other things I noticed... The matte black had carbon fiber wheels so it's probably the performance model with a sub 3 sec 0-60. Also only a center instrument screen... Hopefully it has a heads up display.

Overall not bad looking... Just doesn't have that sport sedan profile.

Wife was meh about it too.

Well the other manufacturers have 2 years to make something better that will make me want to take my deposit back.

yep, if I buy one, I'm getting the entry level civic version. No need for the ZCP for me

Anyways, I agree, Tesla beat everyone to the punch, but I heard Ford or GM is unveiling their competitor late this year or early next year, before the Tesla delivery. There could be a lot of people jumping ship. We live in exciting times for mass market cheap BEVs.

Here's the crazy thing, even with a Tesla allocation, I'm keeping my options open for either a Cayenne S E-Hybrid, Volvo XC90 PHEV or a F15 X5 40e. By 2018, these cars would be way old technology, and probably depreciate like a rock. I'll pick one up off lease and hopefully in the low $40k range.

I know...PHEVs are boring, heavy, slow, blah blah blah, but have you seen the new Cayenne S E Hybrid?

416 HP, 10.8 kWH battery, 22 mile range (perfect for my commute), 7700 lb tow capacity, and street cred

Put my deposit down online. I think there are 115,000 people in front of me. lol. I wonder if there are enough tax credits available.

Flying ace: That cayenne looks badass. I hope the price drops by 2018 as well!

Plug in hybrids make a lot of sense too... Enough range to commute all electric and has the gas motor for weekends and long trips.

I just wish they had more range. The only plug in electric that works with my commute is the Chevy Volt.

The Bolt comes out later this year. It's going to be 200+ mile range. But it's going to be front wheel drive and 7 to 8 sec zero to 60. More of a city run about.

Also the Hyundai ionic comes out too but I think it's 110 mile range.

Jalopnik has a lot of pictures and videos up... Actually looks pretty good...

There should be enough credits... That 115,000 is worldwide not just US.

It would be hillarious if they gave the HOV/carpool sticker to that cayenne.

Put down a deposit online also. Initially planned to drop by dealer but didn't even try after seeing the lines in the morning. Hopefully, we can all take advantage of the fed tax rebate. Tesla is projected to deliver 50k vehicles for 2016 and another 50k in 2017, this is on top of the 100k+ that's already on the road. It's possible by the time the 3 comes out they'll already have met the max available credits, which is 200k per manufacturer.

I just put a deposit down 10 minutes ago. I went to the showroom. Not a single customer was there. They ended up punching my info into a computer and it looked like their public website anyways. So I would advise people to just do it online at this point.

I actually don't want a 2016 delivery. I just want to be in the initial build allocation and I want to make my decision to purchase as late as possible but still skirt into the tax rebate. We'll see if this works.

interesting info on fed rebate:

Some state and federal rebates are set to expire after the manufacturer sells 200,000 individual cars.

According to data compiled by the research firm Polk and by the industry publication Inside Evs, Tesla to date has sold about 67,000 vehicles that qualified for rebates. If the company hits its stated sales target of 80,000 to 90,000 vehicles this year, analysts said, those rebates could expire before the first Model 3 leaves the factory floor
