No 'door ajar' notification. Is that right?

Just noticed today that nothing comes up on the dash with the doors half-locked (first 'click'). And no chime either. Noticed my right door wasn't closed properly once I took off. Not a big deal at all, but just wondering if all M3s are like that, since even economy cars have that feature. Thanks gang.

Thanks folks. Yeah, there's no way you're not going to notice an improperly closed door for long on this car due to the window not sealing properly, but if it's the right one, you have to pull over to close it again.

But if the trunk is not properly closed, we might never notice it. Wonder if there's no warning on that either .

No biggie either way. It just seems odd a $70K+ car doesn't have that. Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.

When I was a kid my Grandmas car used to say "the door is ajar' in this Bristish voice, made me laugh like crazy.

That's it.

The car will tell you if any of the doors are open. It won't say it right away, but when you start driving the middle of the cluster will show the open doors.

Come on guys... for $80K we BETTER have that feature, right?

Yeah, it does show just not instantly. It probably thinks you're doing something while you're not moving with the door open

On the E46 a little graphic of the car pops up with the open door (or trunk) in red. I assume the E9x does the same

Good to know. Thanks. That one sure is handy if the wife/kids left it open by mistake.
As far as the doors, most of us would notice before the dash illuminates. But I'll drive with mine not closed properly and see how long it takes to show up on the dash just for kicks . Thanks again to all who replied .

I just did the test and mine lit up while going in reverse backing out of my driveway.

You also get a warning if the hood is not latched correctly.
