The GT-R owner said exactly the same as you. He always had this big dream of owning a Skyline Nissan and had to buy a GT-R. But then he found out after a year or two of ownership that it was not a fun car to drive if you can look beyond the obsession that is the fastest car on the road or so. The GT-R pretty much drives itself. Being in the driver seat and witnessing the AWD controlling feels like being taken for a ride instead of driving the car, not the same level of involment as an M3 dynamic response, M3 fun and the sense of being one with the car.

PS: The GT-R interior looks like it was designed by a 12 yrs old for a sega game. But that is not the main point but made my decision even easier.
I don't agree with this as I have driven the GTr quite a bit. It is no less engaging if you are actually driving it hard than the m3. Not saying it feels the same but in a different way, nonetheless as engaging and just as fun

The GTR has sick handling for a box shape

If you want a nice interior get an Audi. True gearheads don't give a shit.

FYI the ride is due to run flat tires as well. Changing the tires changes the whole ride
I am not a "gearhead". I want sublime performance AND refinement. And yes, I love Audi interiors. I suppose, then, that companies like Ferrari and Maclaren are wasting their money putting high grade interiors in their cars, right?

I'm really wondering if the 2 seconds is with like launch control, rolling start, exc. I'll be far more impressed with the number if its just him mashing on it from a stop light.

If you drive the car on the street most of the time, you will be disappointed most of the time. You can buy a Civic and it will be more livable in daily driving.

But as a weekend track toy, it is awesome. I still wished it came in manual transmission though.

And yes, AWD launch is incredible. Even in my previous Evo, you engage launch control and you'll do 0-60 in under 4 seconds... it's the combo of AWD with big torque.
all those things that you mentioned are the character that make me smile everytime i drive the GTR

and i daily mine. drove it to work today. and its on full race coilovers

However, anyone who prefers the current M3 over the current GTR, will still prefer it over the Nismo version.

The issue is that none of what makes the GTR so undesirable has anything to do with its performance. And Nissan seemingly has taken no measure to improve on what makes this car so undesirable to many car enthusiasts. It keeps upping the pure performance capabilities of the stock car, without doing anything to improve the subjective characteristics of the car.

At the very least, a car of this caliber should come with the Japan-only EGOIST interior as standard. Also, about 20lbs of sound deadening material will not hinder performance one tiny bit. How about a decent sounding exhaust from the factory, and an adjustable suspension that makes the car livable on the street.

These are all things that can be very easily done without changing the design of the car or its performance capabilities.
you can buy an upgraded interior similar to the egoist in the US Spec car now. Very few people actually buy it

There are a bunch of GTR's on my normal commute where there's no traffic on wide open streets with 60mph+ speed limits.

So back when I thought going 0-60 was cool (I could care less now), I did a couple mods on my previous 335 (tune, intake, dp, meth, LSD and tires) with the 6AT trans and was cutting 0-60's in the 3.5 to 3.8 second range with just mashing the gas in 2nd gear. 0-100 was around 8.0 (all measured on the VBox) and I can tell you that no GTR could keep up with me from a dead stop on a stoplight run. Mind you these were likely all stock GTR's and my guess is that none were using launch control. So street start, no way they were doing 2.9 or whatever they can do with launch control. More like 4 seconds, which is still f'ing fast. Hell, I couldn't even even break below 4.0 seconds with my 400 HP STi.

Oh, I totally want a GT-R for fun. But I'd need a 2nd car for my daily driving. And as I mentioned, I want a manual transmission.

My Evo had Ohlins, brakes that sounded like nails on chalkboard at every stop light, straight pipe with no cats, stripped interior with only 1 seat inside the car and R comp tires. I drove that on the street... but not every day. It makes the GT-R look like a Rolls Royce in comparison.

Yes, it is fun when you are driving for fun, but as your only car that you drive to work, scraping up steep driveways, and the grocery store... it's tiring and wears you out. Yet you have no choice but to drive it everywhere because that is your only car.

That's why I sold my Evo and got the M3 and kept the M3 fairly stock.
