FINALLY ... looks like there is gonna be a car after all ... phew!

No offence to the hard core folks, I just hope they don't serve 6 speed manuals for the next 2 years.

SMG/DSG or bust ...

Although the M models have some nice light weight materials, you need beefier suspension/brakes/wheels/LSD/Engine/Tranny and everything else I missed so it's going to be a couple hundred pounds heavier than the 335i so you're looking at a 3750-3800lb if history repeats....

Dont forget the seats and headliner.

Yep.

If you're not on a waiting list yet and want this car, NOW is the time to put your name and deposit down.

I would say it is way too late if you are serious. Many dealers have lists 20-30+ deep already. Waiting 6+ months after the first deliveries is waiting waaaaay to long for me.

And YOU KNOW, the M3 is going to get crazy press attention on the incredible reviews like no other car can.
The RS5 will be close behind the S5 with ~420hp and Quattro. Probably heavier, but we'll see.

I can't believe how many U.S. guys are going to the show. Obviously you can make a great trip around Switzerland, IMO one of if not the most beautiful countries in the world, however that is quit a trek to make to see some care,

M3

Wish BMW had Audi looks. This Bangle stuff just doesn't cut it. It does not stir the blood. Even Benzes look better.
Still a BMW fan inspite of what they look lke

i think the new 3 looks surprisingly un-bangle. it looks like a natural evolution of the predecessing 3 series.

i like what bangle did with the 7... though its a very avant-garde design.. and very bangle.

hate what he did with the Z4 convertible (though i love the Z4M hardtop). and think the 5 series is too aggressive looking. the 6 series is beautiful, but the trunk lid could have been infinitely better. too bad really. it was one of the only things holding me back from picking up the m6 coupe.

as far as audi goes, the A4 makes me yawn... its uninspired and boring. but the A6 is beautiful.

all in all though. i like bmw's design cues and philosophy more than audi's. and i think the new M3 will really put on display quintessential bmw design philosophy. i can't wait.

I was told M3 Concept will indeed be a M3 CSL - with all CSL lightweight CF parts. Standard M3 will differ from a Concept.

So I guess that means Concept (= CSL) will have CF roof, lightweight boot lid with license plate in bumper, super-light fenders, etc. While standard M3 will come without CF roof, license plate on boot lid etc.

Few more days to go ...

Not to me! Based on recent history, it seems unlikely that a CSL will be sold in the US which for me means I will not buy it. So news of exotic parts on the CSL only makes me concerned that the "standard" M3 will in fact be too standard, i.e., not special enough.

I just meant the license plate on the boot lid part. I'm not going to sweat 10 lbs for a metal roof over CF - at least I know it will be body color up there.
