You don't really need this switch to get the rear fogs to work. Take the unit out of the car. Pop the little front plastic cover off -- the piece with the fog light symbol on it (the picture that the M3 doesn't have) -- it's held on from the inside, look closely and you'll see. Pry the little prongs up that hold it in to get the cover off.

File off the little nibs that prevent the cover from being pushed in. There may or may not be a little plastic piece that goes back from the cover to the circuit board. If you have this then just pop the modded cover back on. If not, fashion one with a small dowel, lego, etc. Use your imagination. Or search. It's been covered in the forums in detail.

Cheers.

Is any wiring required, or is the switch already hooked up and just blocked?

Nah, the people in the US are retarded and think that

a) you're braking
b) something is wrong with you car
c) don't even notice so it makes no difference

How much is the part over there? RoverActive sells them on ebay for $150 I think.

Those being required would sure beat the idiots who turn on their hazards while driving in heavy rain.

I think they are a very useful feature.

Turner Motorsports has then for $159.

Rear fogs are there and wired. It's just that the switch is disabled.

Cheers.

Not in the US, but then we do save a small fortune on the price of the M3 compared to the rest of the world. So I can do without it.

I had a rear fog switch on my 335i, I think I used it five times during ownership. All in torrential downpours. Came to the conclusion hazards were more effective in such a situation.

I believe 2010+ already has the white little switch in there for the rear fog light. You just need to cut the button trimming so that it becomes a real button (that you can push in). I just did it to my 2011. Only thing you don't have is the rear fog light symbol on the button. Oh well, it works.
