yes, this is a mandate in DC and VA; dont risk it, esp if you drink and drive; youre just asking them to pull you over; i've been pulled over twice for no front tags

Thanks man - I'm def gonna put one on. Have a Skean bracket on order now. Curious if it'll pass inspection without a front bracket?

My car passed inspection with no front plate and I put on the Skene shortly after. I went without a plate on another car and I always sweated getting pulled over (dark tint and loud exhaust added to the sweat) so with this car I'm going all legal. I dropped the plate a bit lower which I think improves the look though perhaps impedes air flow. The Skene is super adjustable, so much that it took me way longer than 10 minutes to install it. I used threadlocker because it felt like the bolts could easily back out.

Thanks everyone for their comments. I recently changed my oil and had the front of the car elevated and while the oil was draining, i took advantage of the time and installed the Skene kit.
It's a pretty easy install - you don't even need a drill. All you need is: (1) cleaner + rag (2) Screwdriver So it looks very very stable and solid. I was worried the bracket would maybe hit the bumper but Skene included two rubber bumper things to put on the back. Cool. I guess if I have any negative comments, it would be that the brackets don't quite reach out as far as I'd like, resulting in the plate being tilted forward a tiny bit more than I'd like. This could be fixed by getting a slightly longer arm on the L bracket (can be seen on the bottom) so it extends a bit farther away from the car. But oh well, no big deal I guess. |

Word is the front license plates are no longer necessary in MD effective October 1, 2013. Guess who's removing his tow hook plate + frame tonight?
My car did not come with any holes drilled up front so there is definitely a case to me made. Will have a copy of the bill with me as well in case I get pulled over. Excerpt of the bill and additional details at the following link- http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showt...-Change-in-Law |
