Vortech v3 oil change question???

Hi all,

I understand to swap the oil out for new on the charger there's a braided line on the bottom which you use to drain the oil, there's then the filler plug and dipstick (both allen heads on the top of the unit).

Simple to do, however the supercharger is mounted on the e92 on an angle in such a way that the filler hole and dipstick are at about a 70degree angle when the car is sat flat on all four wheels.
Has anyone simply jacked the car up as far as it'll go on one side to try and level off the dipstick + filler to then drain, refil and check the oil level?

Just looking for reassurance before I start the job!

Cheers,

Dan

All what i can tell you is, open the fill in before you dump the oil out of the blower.
I stripped the fill in plug once and it wasn't pretty. I think i filled it up through the dipstick and it was fine.

I sent Vortech a question about changing the oil on their website and never got an answer.

I don't even know the recommended interval.

7,500 mile intervals.

This might help some folks.

Good idea to make sure the filler and dipstick can be removed before draining the oil from the unit wouldn't fancy taking the charger off to tap out a new thread!
Thanks buddy

I've printed off this method, simple as it is. It's just the angle at which the dipstick and filler cap are at when the charger is in situe on the car. The guide makes it seem like its facing straight up (which would make sense).

I've spoken with CA international (UK BMW tuning garage) and I've been advised just to jack the car up on one side

Did you have to remove the whole unit to fix it?

Morning all. For those interested, I jacked up the car as far as I could on one side, unscrewed the filler plug and dipstick then checked the oil level prior to draining. Screwed in the drain plug again and refilled. Checked the oil level then ran her for 20 mins before checking again. Drove ~100miles over the weekend and all seems fine

Easy task - took about 20mins all in all, other than finding a 3/16 imperial allen key that I ended up borrowing from a neighbour!
