I'd forgotten all about Vodafone going to McLaren, so I geeked out and wore my Ferrari team shirt to work on Friday. Then I realized ... d'oh ... they changed the RED. It's away from the vodafone orange tint red back to Ferrari red.

Crap, gonna have to get a new shirt.

I have high hopes for Lewis Hamilton for the season.
I was so happy to see Kimi win this week for a couple of reason.

First, it shows both he and the car are waaaaaay competitive, which certainly bodes well for Ferrari for the rest of the season. It's certainly anyones game at this point, but short of Massa's failure during qualifying (which doesn't bode well) the cars, as well as, the drivers performed very well.

Second, I could not wait to hear his interview at the end. I have recorded a number of them and if you run them all together it will drone you right to sleep better than Lunestra.

Alonso will provide strong competition. The McLearen looks like it will be the one to stay ahead of, especially with Alonso and Hamilton.

Kubica and Hamilton are my top watch picks for this season. Kubica could easily be the top driver for BMW. Hamilton unfortunately has a problem from the standpoint that he will have trouble stepping out in front of Alonso. He shown more than great promise. He's a young lad, but incredibly talented It will be interesting to see if he holds his composure all season!

I hope some of this group will be out in Indy for the race in June. I will be right across the street with cold beer and plenty of red meat for the grill. I hope to meet some of you in person.

My wife, as a father's day/birthday present took me to Indy in 05 to see my first live F1 race ... yeah, that's one I won't soon forget.

Since Indy isn't really driving distance, I'm thinking Montreal next year. Anybody ever been?

Why are ppl giving Kimi so much credit and it is only his first race in a Ferrari or maybe I am

Would someone shine some light on this matter.
Here is some more enriched uranium for the reactor.
Kimi sucks.... at least as far as his personality is concerned. His driving is on par with some of the best you will ever find in F1. He is no joke and I am looking forward to seeing he and Alonso duke it out for the whole season. May the best car and man win.

I would have preferred that Alonso move to Ferrari as I felt he was a better fit for the team and every bit as capable as Kimi. Between the two, I think the car will determine their fate. If Ferrari has a better chassis, they will likely pull it off, Alonso would do the same if he were driving the Ferrari. The Mclearen looks pretty fit for the task, so I'm not counting on anything. WTF happen to Honda? Poor Jensen (and Rubens), he better get a new ride or his days of getting in a top tier team are numbered.

Nice to have Hamilton in such a good car. He has a fighting chance.
I think he is a real player for the future. Can't wait to see what he will do for McLearn. I bet Ron Dennis is saying the same thing. I wonder how much money he has put into that kids career over the years.

Definitely +1

Alonso sure has polished up. His demeanour is first class. Kimi still has some work to do in this department. We'll see if he cracks mid-year.

I think the Ferrari package is competitive thus far, we'll see a few races in. They do have the advantage of their pre-existing relationship with Bridgestone. I wonder if the mechanical reliability will match the F2005 car.

Kinda freaked me out when Massa lost his.......trans?.......not good, but then again I really don't think reliability is that big of a concern. Historically, at least the last 7 or 8 years, their reliability has been above par. I think that will continue.

As you have said, they are definitely benefiting from the preexisting relationship with Bridgestone. How long will that be an advantage? I am guessing they have till about mid season till everyone get enough data. With everyone running the same tires, all the time, the data will build quickly and give them more to work with.

My wife swears Fernando's Uni-brow is now under control. I guess it was getting to be like a giant Caterpillar crossing his head. In her eyes, this give him an advantage. His helmet might fit better!
I know, I know...I married her for better or for worse, but for stupid comments like that....she's on shaky ground!

Actually this is kind of a trademark of Kimi. He has always done this. I thought that Ferrari might have told him not to do it anymore.

To be serious his comments in Finnish are not too fluent either. This is just in his person. We all have our small defects. Kimi is fast let other guys do the talking.

It is also great to see Kimi so happy after all the frustration with McLaren.

Hamilton was excellent. I hope they will let him drive and there will be no team orders to hold back for Alonso.

Either way, if Alonso were with Ferrari and Kimi with McLaren, it makes for a very exciting season to have those two on opposite side with very capable cars. But this is too early to tell.

no it wouldnt have, the mclaren is not a capable car, or atleast would not be if kimi stayed with them, the only reason its holding together now is because money POURED into thwm when alonso joined

also alonso is a lot tougher on the cars then kimi is

I was under the impression it was the other way around.

So, has Mclaren improved reliability that much or was it a driver issue?
