Amazing color!!! Probably the best color for a BMW period (classy as black, noble as blue).

Beautiful! This is the first car/thread that makes me miss my '12 E92 M3 in Jerez. Azurite is epic. I've got to get that for my next one.

Any ideas on the differences between Azurite/Tanzanite/Imperial Blue?

Thanks! Having seen all of those colors in person, I'd say from dark to light is Azurite-->Tanzanite-->Imperial Blue.

Azurite really does look black in a lot of light conditions. The Tanzanite 335 at the Welt is like a pure, but quite dark, metallic blue. To me it looks similar to Monaco Blue, but with larger flakes and a slight purple hue. Imperial blue seems to be a lighter shade with some gray in it and a touch of green from certain angles.

To me, Tanzanite and Imperial are gorgeous colors but a bit one-dimensional compared to Azurite. Azurite has many different color flakes, so in the sunlight it can reflect several hues depending on the viewing angle. Lots of smiles from people who think it's black until they see the sun hit it.

I've had a couple of questions about the tape on the front of the car...it's black painter's tape from Amazon. A bit less conspicuous than the bright blue stuff!

I appreciate that comparison. Coming from Jerez, now to my current Black Sapphire Metallic, I'm just never enthralled at the color like I was on my M3. Gotta make sure to rectify that for my next car.

Any thoughts on how Carbon Black relates to those colors you described? I've seen CB in person a few times, but never in relation to Azurite/Tanzanite.

Why is it that in some of the pictures, there is still ugly matt-black covering from mid-front wheels to the front bumper?

Please see post #51. It's tape to protect the bumper on the 1200 mile journey home from the Performance Center.

Love the color combo.
I had an e36 with Modena leather, which is a little more yellow.
The only combination I like as much would be saddle brown interior.

Carbon Black is a fantastic color. I'd say in terms of dark to light it's Jerez-->Carbon-->Azurite. In the sun, Carbon is a little darker than Azurite and seems to reflect straight dark blue, rather than a bunch of different colors. Carbon also has smaller flakes.

My favorite combo on the E46 M3 was Carbon/Cinnamon--that was the inspiration for this build!

I'm very jealous you got to do Tail of the Dragon after PCD.
When I picked mine up last month, S. Carolina got hit with an ice storm and I was barely moving around town, never mind Tail of the Dragon.

My first mod was also the E-Race. I had the exhaust sitting in my garage 2 months before my car arrived. Sounds awesome and it's surprisingly not loud at all inside. Outside is a different story. I've gotten thumbs up from cops sitting at a traffic light for the exhaust alone.

How is the drone on your E Race? I love the sound, but the resonance between 2600-3400 RPM, especially in higher gears, can be a bit much sometimes.
