Maintenance Question...

My warranty expires in October of this year. I plan to pick up an extended warranty. I know this wont cover basic maintenance. Thus has anyone invested in the extended maintenance package through BMW? Is it worth it for $3300 (offered by VOB Rockville)? Anyone else pick up a better maintenance deal at another stealership? Personally my car is relatively a garage queen, not so much by choice but because i travel so much with my job. I have an 08 with 15K miles, an although i see some value in the extended maintenance, is it truly worth it for 2 additional years....

Ps- I know this topic has been beaten to a bloody pulp. But i would like to know of those who have gone through this in the immediate DMV area.

Thank you.

Are you talking maintenance or extended warranty? I would say no on the maintenance as you will not get your money's worth with how you drive it and I personally would opt out of the extended warranty at $3300.00 for only two additional years. That is just me but others will soon chime in.

I bought the extended maintenance for my M5. Already has paid for itself for an oil change, 4 rotors, and 4 break pads.

It's kinda like paying for service up front, though some maintenance items (like brakes) are above and beyond what the extended maintenance cost is.

So unless you are a DIY kind of guy and know you way around parts and maintenance, then I say go for it. Other alternative is to find a BMW mechanic that does work on the side for cheap.

Thank you guys but i think im going to pass on the maintenance, both of you made valid points. With the way i drive my car its not worth it, now if i really pushed it to its limits then its worth it. I also figure if i need to change brakes ill upgrade to brembo or stoptechs. I will get a discounted extended warranty through my CU though. Thank you Educational Systems FCU!!!!
