Advice needed

Would appreciate some advice on what appears to be a mistake made by my dealer. My CA finally emailed me with a final MSRP and price with tax, tags, etc since my car is finished with production. i noticed the amount to be about $1000 more than i expected. upon looking at the details he added in fox red extended leather vs. just plain old fox red leather as i had requested.

how do you all think i should handle this? im not sure extended red will even look good, but at this point, ill have to live with it or wait another xx months for another production vehicle.

thanks

if you call and complain maybe they will discount the car in the amount of the extended leather. Sounds like it was there mistake. As far as ordering another car that will take xx months its not so bad just a little extra red. Are you really ready to wait again.

If you're financing the vehicle, it would only add dollars to your monthly payment. I personally think the extended leather would look nice....but you should still speak to your salesman about this - hopefully it was an honest mistake on their part.

They should have given you a print out or confirmation of some sort WHEN then order was PLACED. I would review that and see what it says. If you missed it, well, they can say you should have caught it.

Either way, it appears to have been an oversight, either by you or them. I would definately tell them about the error and see what they will do about it. You might get some accessories at the least...its worth a shot either way.

+1

They sent me the specs and asked me to approve by signing just before my order was placed. If you went through a similar process, and if the extended leather wasn't on there, then I would hold the dealer accountable for misprocessing/misentering your order and ask them to pay for it.

the CA gave me something called a vehicle inquiry report back when the car was in status 111 and it wasnt on there. something changed somehow between then and now and its now on the car. the CA just called and said he would talk to the sales mgr but already offered a new production slot. not good. also, is this going to be ugly as hell having the extended red leather?

If it wasn't on the VIR, I'd push back and say I am not going to wait for another 3 months because you screwed up. Also, this sounds really strange--that it wasn't on the VIR and then showed up. How and why does that happen exactly without you asking for it? Someone has to manually make the change unless the BMW system screwed up, in which case, BMW should absorb the cost. I'd demand to know that.

It depends on the external color I think. With black, it would most likely be okay since the black can absorb red well, but I am not sure about other external colors.

I don't know. Space gray is not the darkest color. There are pics of extended FR on a Jerez and a SSII on the forum. Jerez looks good, and SSII doesn't IMHO. If you weren't doing PDC, it would be easier to handle since you could just see it in person and then decide...

I am sure you can get a discount if it was their mistake.
