Yes it is. I found launching around 4200rpm to be the best, but anywhere from 4000-4500 seemed to work pretty well. I was able to cut a few 2.0x and mostly 2.1x at that site on the RE-71R's.

Tried to find in the thread and elsewhere, but what size tires are non-ZCP E92's running in F Street on stock 18's? I'm looking at RE11's, it's my first season running Solo, and I've pretty much cooked the PSS's I have now.

Look to the RE-71R and Rival S for "this year's" tires.

Don't think i can pull off a second set of wheels right now, but maybe in a couple months. Do you think the 275's up front would be too much for the street? I don't put a ton of miles on it, probably 800 a month.

No, I don't think so. I would have no problem driving it full time with the 275s up front. I've taken on a few trips to away events that are ~550 miles round trip -- no issues whatsoever so far. Edge wear actually seems like it might be a bit improved with the slight pinch on the fronts by the way (this is with BFG Rivals).

Any of you daily drive on the re71r? Lately I've been switching back to my stock wheels for street.
Im concerned about the tire heat cycling out and losing grip. |

I don't think you will hurt them, but if you have another set you may as well switch - it would suck to hit a pothole or something and lose a race tire.

It was good to put a face to the Rexpelagi screen name even if it meant having my butt kicked. I appreciate the thoughts on changes to the car. Too bad the nut behind the wheel is harder to adjust.

Here are the runs from Wilmington - car felt great on this surface/course. Hopefully it will work this well in Lincoln!
Setup: 265/35R18 RE-71R square (waiting on 275's), front bar full soft Right: Left:

John,
Any thoughts/knowledge about the Rival S versus the RE-71R? The 275/35-18 Rival S is continually on backorder all year, so perhaps some who might try it haven't been able to get any (it appears that the E46 M3 in 2nd at this event might have been on them?). I'm planning on new autox tires and assume the RE-71R is the way to go (added bonus is they are a good bit cheaper than the Rival S not to mention available). Thanks, Chuck

Here's the recent TR report - take a look at the results charts for lap times: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=202 I've been very happy with 71R's, and see no reason to change. I haven't driven Rivals on the M3, but I didn't care for them when I did drive them on another 'stock' vehicle. They felt less predictable and were slower to respond. They were also slower than the 71R for me, on that vehicle. Devin (E46) was on 71R's - not sure what the results show.

Thanks John. Looks like the case is made for the RE-71R. Yeah, the results PDF from the SCCA site showed BFGoodrich for his tires.
Regards, Chuck

Damn those things squeal a lot for race I mean street I mean what? tires
From looking at how it responds to throttle I bet you'll like the 275's. Did you soften the bar from stiff or start there and never stiffen it up? Curious what you got you there

I actually really liked the car on soft with 265 square. Enough that I'd consider even running that setup at nationals, but most likely I'll be on 275's (if I can get them). Next weekend I'll be back at Wilmington on 265 square again, so we shall see how it goes! |

Tirerack has the 275/35-18 RE71R in stock and available.
