DINAN exhaust - HFC X pipe or RACE X pipe?

Currently I have DINAN rear exhaust

With stock X pipe, too quiet… So I put test pipes and the sound improved a lot!

But I still believe it's too quiet, so I want to upgrade the X pipe

Does anyone have direct experience with DINAN exhaust? Do you recommend X pipe with high Flow cats or race X pipe with resonators only? What sounds better?

No drone with DINAN exhaust, so no worries about this

Thanks for your input!

High flow cat x pipe would sound similar to test pipes, maybe slightly louder. A catless x pipe with resonators will sound raspier/high pitched and will have fume smell. I recommend the BE x pipe

I recommend the Gintani Catless resonated xpipe because a friend of mine has it. Not raspy. Sounds the same as my MPE with OEM cats at idle. Wakes up nicely with throttle input and no drone.

Every Dinan rear exhaust I've ever heard....

I'd suggest dropping that and getting something worth while; Megan, Gintani, Remus, etc.

I don't think you'll ever get it as 'loud' as you want it with a Dinan.

OR, and hear me out here, instead of simply stating a shitty belittling comment like that, how about you look at his actual post and make a suggestion yourself?

He wants something louder - that's not Dinan. I've owned Dinan (car came with it), Gintani, Akrapovic, and Remus. All of which are substantially LOUDER than a simple Dinan setup.

I'm simply suggesting reasonably louder catback exhaust setups over Dinan - almost like I'm using facts and personal experience to make my statements...crazy idea, right?

But yes...I'm a "hot boi"...whatever that means.

I have Dinan cans with an RKP sport x-pipe. Sounds way better, and way different, then Dinan and test pipes. I like it, but it is not crazy loud.

Thats a funny response from somebody who simply stated that every Dinan exhaust made you want to puke.... Why dont YOU read the original post and make a suggestion in line with that the OP asked?

This topic has been covered a dozen times in the last year, my response can be read in a number of existing threads.

i have a very similar setup, Dinan exhaust with Evolve Xpipe (HFC in secondary position). All the older guys love my setup, it doesnt sound like anything else. The young guys say they cant hear my car at all, but they are all running catless straight X-pipes with Remus, Megan, Valvetronic, ETC rear sections.

I've never once heard a Dinan that sounds louder than any other catback system, while I haven't tried all the catbacks, I've tried the mentioned ones at least once.

OP is looking for an upgraded x-pipe, but even if he gets one it will most likely have at minimum 2 resonators, if not the 4 setup (obviously depending on which he goes with), or he could get a straight piped x-pipe.

I don't believe the x-pipe will make THAT much difference given he's already running test pipes, I think it would be more beneficial to get a more aggressive sounding catback system; ie any of the ones I mentioned and hence my inclination to change up the Dinan.

Did you just come in here to start an argument or something, I don't understand the hate!? Especially when I've actually owned these systems and am speaking from previous experience on installing, hearing, and running these setups.

Why not both? Exhaust pitch, noise tolerance, drone tolerance, smell tolerance is all very subjective. Depends on your personal preference and it's hard to pick up on video/microphone via camera phone. My advice is to pick up a couple options used and see what you like and live with it a while, you can always sell/trade depending on YOUR preference.

Before getting rid of the Dinan, find someone with the Dinan and Gintani setup. My experience is from the inside of the car only.
Maybe any xpipe makes it sounds better, I dunno. But many of the other options are louder and brings the drone with it. I like the sound of during deceleration as much as during acceleration sound the drone needs to be out of the way. Something to think about.

No drone with DINAN exhaust, so no worries about this

The sound can change quite dramatically from one xpipe to another, even if both are resonated. I don't care what anyone says...I ran a few different setups and always found this to be true. Where the X is located along the flowpath, the size, shape, placement, material of resonators, also the size of the perforations in the resonator will all affect the tone.

The Dinan is on the quieter side when paired with resonated or catted Xpipes, but because its designed with a Helmholtz chamber internally you're almost assured minimal drone irrespective of volume. The downside to some is that the same mechanism that is eliminating the drone is also cancelling out the lower end frequencies; leaving you with a higher pitch tone even if you go full race xpipe. Some people love the low deep rumble and some the higher pitch exotic tones. You can manipulate the tone in many ways.

As long as the expectation is set that it won't be this super deep rumbly muscle car sound, if you want louder do something like a Bimmerworld race xpipe and call it a day. I've heard this combo and it sounds nice...definitely more along the Euro high pitch "exotic" variety and less Musclecar but I feel it compliments the powertrain and high RPM nature of the car.

I've had ten different setups ranging from oem mod to valved mufflers with 5 different xpipes. Lol

Just bought a dinan to match with test pipes. I think it'll be a good combo of quiet plus loud when you need it to be.

MS xpipe is very good for the price.

Dinan bad, megan good? Hahaha. Dinan is one of the best sounding exhausts for these cars hands down. I'll trade my gintani rear for a dinan rear any day of the week
