I don't THINK it's the relief bolt but I'd have to go look and see.........it's the one on the right side.

by relief bolt, you mean the vent plug? I had thought about it but I'm so sketched out because they say to not remove it at all.

Yeah the vent plug. Just wondering where he filled it if the drain/dip stick plug has never been removed. There is another flat brass fitting that is for running a recirculating engine oil setup through the unit.

Hmmm. Got me thinking, My friend bought an M3 that has an ESS Kit on it and when he came over for me to check it out his drain plug was literally pointing up on the side by the intake piping and driver side strut. I told him about my issue and he was kinda worried but he was talking about if he could use a Oil Extractor/Siphon pump. wonder if someone has tried it.

Anyone know if it's 45 degree tilt on the ESS units as well? Need to replace my dipstick.

The dip stick on these things is worthless in my opinion. Sketchy to read and inaccurate. We install the vented plug to mitigate the overfill/over pressurization issue. When I had my SC I would drain the oil and then refill with a full bottle, done.

I have my kit, but not installed it yet... (waiting for motor rebuild).
What I am going to do is remove the dipstick prior to fitment, and use a dremel to cut into the head, so as to be able to use a flat screw driver to remove...

Yeah I should have done that with my current dip stick but I ordered a new one instead. I might for the fun of it drill and tap the old one to accept a locking hex setscrew.
