Help with error codes

I got an ECL today. It came on less than a mile from home on my way to work. The car is performing like normal. Except for the ECL, not one symptom.
AutoEnginuity spit out the following codes:

D904 K-CAN Wiring error
D104 Unknown
E5C4 CAN Low
E2c4 Unknown
D2c4 Unknown
D944 "
C944 "
9CD5 "
9CD4 "
E584 "
E704 IHKA: BusPhysical Bus Fault
E104 Unknown
C908 "
E444 "
E484 "
E1CF "
E1C4 "

There are plenty of sites that discuss P xxxx codes. What do the E C D and 9 codes mean? GOOGLE search yields very little info.

Its beginning to look like an electrical issue. Just for reference the battery is about a year old. I have not checked anything out otherwise.

Any help appreciated.

Holy error codes Batman
I wouldn't be surprised that one main error caused a trickle down of the others.

I dont know if it'd be the battery since you were driving and at that point the battery just becomes a load to the alternator however these newer cars can be pretty tricky when it comes to electical issues.

There have been known issues with the IBS ground cable (if that's the correct name) which is much more than just a conventional ground cable since it has electronics built in.

Hopefully someone else can chime in. Have you checked Regular Guy's very useful but ofter overlooked error code sticky?

I would not be surprised if there is just causing this list. The Buses are like a web. One can upset the others giving you a cascade.

I have been doing a little reading. Apparently there is not just a CAN bus. The CAN bus has several "sub" buses. the main CAN bus is for the drive train. There is a K-CAN bus for the peripherals. I think this is where the problem is.

So I took the usual stupid approach. I reset the codes to see what will happen. Took it out today. No ECL. It will probably be back. I have a great local shop. When it recurs I will take it in.

I just can't seem to find a list of the C D E and 9 series error codes. Google is stumped. Perhaps they only mean something a BMW diagnostic computer. I don't have one of those.

Thanks for your help.
