What makes your office FUN?
I'm working on some ideas to re-decorate our corporate office to be more FUN. We are an arcade operator (think Aladdin's Castle, Time-Out, theater lobbies), so our business is all about FUN.
Is there anything in your office or that you think would make it more enjoyable?

M-W in the office... not much, I look forward to lunch with some coworkers that are good company. I do like my Dual monitors there....
Th-F I work from home...Fun is not getting dressed and having whatever music/movie I want on in the background.

Our whiskey bar.
We also have no cubes, ZERO....but it's largely the whiskey bar. We also have a stocked beer fridge too with various craft beers. |

We have a zero tolerance alcohol policy, so no chance of any of those in the layout.

Some nudity.
Let's not get carried away, I definitely don't want to see some of the women I work with naked...

my office is fun because it's steps away from my living room and i often play xbox during lunch or on breaks.
i also take random naps on my couch or bed. oh and i have a really neat coffee maker. i have a bunch of car stuff and tvs in every room. sometimes i only wear a t-shirt, underwear and fuzzy slippers. other times i wear a track suit and suede shoes. not often, but sometimes i'll wear a nice watch and jeans to spice it up a bit.

I loved Aladdin's Castle when I was a kid! I would suggest watching Wolf of Wall Street and taking notes.

When I meet with people who have not been to my office before they are most impressed by the design and layout. They tell me "this office is so cool", meanwhile all they've seen is the lobby. It depends on the industry, but I don't think it's just about how many games and activities are you willing to put in there. I think a "cool office" that makes good impressions is all about the interior design. LCD's displaying content is always a plus, but a nice café area with a full kitchen and seating is a great thing to have. Quality is always in the detail. Construction will cost $'s, but if you have a bland office design (not saying you specifically do or do not) you need to bring in somebody to design it to be more current. To me that goes much further than simply putting in a foosball table. Quite a bit more expensive, but more impressive nonetheless, and more enjoyable to work in for employees. My office has our industry theme all over the place. Rooms are named certain things, some walls are murals to match that room. And well beyond but my office is also a "showroom" so it's not a typical office.
It's way more motivational to show up to work in sweet ass designed office, compared to one comprised of wood paneling. |

I don't know what makes it so funny, but we were hanging out in an office and the buddy whose office it was goes shut the door. Someone just got fired for having too much fun. You see the stuff on TV drama all the time, but for some reason it's still so amusing when it happens at work (dude did some dirty work in his office this week and got canned, as did his admin). I mean the guy is married, has 3 kids, has a very good reputation, and the girl is like 23, and we laugh about it. Kinda mean? But they both made their own beds....
