IPE Innotech Valvetronic Exhaust
Hey lads,
I just wanted to check in with you lot about something...I am about to purchase a full system IPE Innotech Valvetronic Exhaust System, but it comes in two package options, F1, or Race/Non F1. I was wondering if the non F1 exhaust (as it is cheaper) is still close to, or as loud as the F1 exhaust. I am hoping it is, because it would suck not to have that amazing noise. If anyone has any knowledge on this I would appreciate your input. Cheers! |

Would an IPe axel-back with test pipes sound fairly similar to the full non F1 system? From my understanding there's a lot of raspiness with the full system or maybe the videos on YouTube don't do justice.

I wouldnt describe it as raspy at all. Really has a deep tone on lower rpms then screams up top. The videos on youtube dont really do it justice.
Im not sure on the axle back with test pipes. It should be close but its def worth getting the full system. |

Would getting the axle back and removing the 2ndary cats with any DME tune be satisfying?

Ferrari Valves are programmed on engine load and pressure basis. If engine load is high enough, IE. full throttle at 2500rpm, pressure will built up to pre-programmed values an flick open. This is where you get the sudden transition in sound. The IPE valves doesn't seem to allow pressure to build up before flicking the valves open. If it does, I'm quite certain you'll get a similar transition in sound as Ferrari. Example: |

Absolutely mate, I'll be taking a lot of pictures and video to upload as well as a full review soon. I'll be sure to dyno the before and after to show those results too.

The F1 is much different than the standard. I'd definitely recommend it over the standard unit. Give us a shout if you'd like a quote, we sell a ton of these

Be wary of the F1 though...it costs excessively out of pocket and also compromises on performance to achieve a higher pitched noise.

The design of the innotech X pipe is a lot of the high pitched sound, both the F1 and non-F1. It sounds pretty different with test pipes and stock secondary cats, quieter for sure, but also lower pitched. The Innotech x pipes also have that nasty bung that hangs down in front of the primary 02 sensors, which seems to interrupt flow - I haven't seen a full Innotech system dyno that well. The F1 flows even worse, as some people have mentioned. The merge section has the round hole in the middle which makes the tone higher but also restricts flow as well.

I've also heard of cracks and leaks in the Innotech x-pipe. The full non F-1 system is about $5500 and the F-1 system is upwards of 7K if I'm not mistaken. I think your best bet would be to get the muffler and purchase an after market X-pipe like a challenge race or race + to sound fairly similar to the F-1 system. It's a win win situation of having a more reliable and better built X-pipe and it will save you some cash. Just my opinion.

I have the full F1 and it creates the most ridiculous sounds you'll ever hear from an M3. My tuner who installed it called me as soon as he heard it just to tell me how awesome it sounded and that it was the by far the best he had ever heard. You really do have to consider that with valves open the thing is insane...truly F1 full on race sound. Valves closed is aggressive but very reasonable and not at all obnoxious. Best exhaust there is IMO.

My favorite mod to the car. I can roll "OEM" with valves closed and it still has that very slight increased growl that sounds so so good!

best exhaust ever. i opted for the standard system and mated it with challenge race x pipe. i've had it for over a year now and the sound never gets old.
