Not a typo, and consistent with what we have understood all along:

E90/E91 3 series and M3 to end production late 2011 (To be replaced with F30, no E90 M3 replacement).

E92/E93 3 series and M3 to end production sometime in 4th Quarter 2012 (F32 Coupe arrives later than the sedan, it was the same way with the intro of the E92).

It'll replace the NA I-6. No more BMW NA engines after next year .

Considering the car came out in what... 08, it seems like an amazingly short run IMHO.

The E90 perhaps is "long in the tooth", but not the M3. If anything, the M3 production is intentional.

My MY2008 was just 2 years old in late September 2010, by then BMW already had 5 M3 model years: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2011.5.

And by Sept 2011 it will be a total of 6 model years (MY2012) in less than 4 calendar years in production.

Good and timely info, Jason.

Now I know how long I have to decide on the details, but maybe BMW will complicate that by throwing in some additional "last model year" options.

I am seriously considering trading my 2008 E90 M3 for 2011 E90 M3 before it goes out of production. How many other current E9x M3 owners are considering trading their cars in for a last year model run V8?

I can see several reasons for doing that if you love the V8, including (1) getting a fresh car, (2) effectively resetting the clock on covered maintenance, (3) effectively reseeting the clock on the warranty and (4) getting the last of its breed.

You're not alone, there are several here on the forum that have done this.

Long Live the S65B40!

I always loved that BMW didn't have 4 cylinders...

Wish those would just stay in Europe and we could keep the 6's here.

I may be in the minority but I'm considering trading mine in for a 1M (pending test drive results of course).

We're still going to have 6 cylinders, just not normally aspirated. N54, N55, whatever the name of the "35d" diesel engine etc.

Thanks for the info, Jason! Debating now whether to pull the trigger on European Delivery of 2012 E92 in September 2011 or May 2012. Hmmm...
