Considering buying a 08 M3...

I'm considering buying a 08 M3...anything I should look out for...apart from being a first year model?

Would appreciate a a detailed feedback in terms of issues encountered (mechanical, software or others) that have since been amended by the factory for the 2009 or 10 models...

I have yet to hear of any dreaded E46 M3 issues such as rod bearing recall and subframe...

Thank you!

I'm researching used M3's as well. Only big thing I see is that '09 has a much better idrive and nav screen. So if you're getting NAV, might want to move up a year.

A bare bones 2008 M3 will be the best bang for your buck.

I would have the dealer run the VIN on any car your interested in buying, to be sure your not buying a problem child. I've had three first year production M3's and never had any major issues with any of them. One of the benefits of buying used is you have a history on the vehicle your buying. A car that hasn't had any problems after two years is probably going to be a reliable car in the future. Conversely, a car with a bunch of go-backs is probably going to continue to have problems. My .02 cents.

The only issue since I bought my 2008 E90: the HVAC grill levers came off. New improved parts have since been installed under warranty. Otherwise perfect.

Another frequent issue (from hearsay) on the 08 M3s are the Idle Control Valve repairs/replacements, some have complained about the DCT lag as well (which has been amended through software updates I believe...)
