I don't care how much faster the new M3 is supposed to be. There is no replacement for displacement. So unless they are making the new M3 smaller or lighter, it will never pull like the V8. Turbos are the poor man's (or green man's) extra cylinders.
Look at the current S4. It has the same horsepower as the old 4.2 liter V8, but it's crap to drive in comparison. Let the flaming begin... |

What you say actually is not true. There is a replacement for displacement and that is FI. Literally and mathematically a FI engine of smaller size is capable of burning as much air/fuel per cycle as a NA engine of larger size and thus producing as much power. With the TT technology and the relatively linear power curves of the FI engines, it easily replaces the V8 and will pull harder. Now the high revving screamer character is not replaceable but the power sure is

I've got an E46...and maybe it's because it's still new...but I absolutely love my E92.
