Idiot Light Fun!!!!!!!!!!

So I'm driving yesterday and noticed the the dreaded service soon light was on and indicating "increased emissions" so I'm thinking great here's my chance to screw the ozone layer up more and possibly speed up global warming. So this morning I get in and notice that the thing is cranking slow but starts and I drive to the office, I call a bud that owns an independent Bimmer shop to have the code read and the thing now wont start (battery)I jump it and take it over. In the name of sweet f*** there must have been 20 codes up for pretty much everything that could possibly have a code including bad tire air codes. Turns out the cars electronics go ape shit in a low voltage situation and most likely its just a dead battery but wont know till the numb nuts at the dealer have their way with it Monday ( can you say Chinese battery). At any rate has anyone been through this with their M and was it the battery? On a positive note they gave me a 328 with like 5 miles on it so I think I'll break it in right for them this weekend as punishment for putting Chinese shit battery in my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should have gotten ZCP. ZCP models get more powerful everything including the battery.

It's ridiculous when someone posts a stupid comment like "seems a lot of 2011s are having issues." And then a new member gets upset with "seriously - what the hell is going on with the 2011s" based on OPs moronic rant that his "Chinese battery" caused all the problems.

Here's whats going on: NOTHING

There are literally thousands of these cars without the slightest issue(s). The fact that a single car forum has identified a few owners with a few minor issues doesn't mean anything about the 2011 MY or the car itself.

So relax guys, the cars are fine. I know plenty of 2011s without a single problem.

It's the Chinese battery. Apparently it has lead in it. Extremely dangerous!

Times like this I wish I had kept my 72 Vega Panel wagon, now that was a car and never went to the shop(they refused to work on it). you mean that not only is it a Chinese battery but the bastards loaded it with deadly lead and acid on top of that, so now I have no choice but to let my son and his heathen friends drive the loaner tonight that'll teach em.

As many have said so far I love this car and have been lucky enough to have owned and/or driven a bunch of world class cars and this one rates right up there at the top and yes 72 Vega Panel Wagon's are "WORLD CLASS" I swear..... Shit happens and if indeed the problem arose due to a shorted cell in the battery no biggie. The technology in these things is pretty impressive and from what I can tell pretty damn reliable as a whole, I bet if you talk to a late model ZO6 owner or Porsche, Audi, Caddy you name it they have all had some issue or another..... nature of the beast. Seems to me the weak point are the dealers and a lack of training I'm pretty sure your run of the mill dealer doesnt have to have M3 trained techs on staff to sell the product so there lies a potential problem that many on here have run into. I'm told 2 guys at the dealer have been to school on the M3....... but they could be lying.

Erhan I have ZCP and am positive that due to the immense greatness of ZCP the lowly Chinese battery felt inferior and decided to check out..... I wish I had ZCP on the 72 Vega Panel Wagon just think of what a hoe doggin machine that would have been.

Two days after taking delivery of my 2011.5 (European Delivery), my electronics got all whacked out...threw every code imaginable. Turned out my ECU went bad. Took them a week to diagnose/replace the ecu. They originally thought a junction box went bad, they replaced that, didn't fix the problem, so they had to order a new ECU, which, because of security reasons, takes longer for the factory to release and ship....fun ED for me. I got a 116d as a loaner.

Got the car back this morning and as expected it was the battery, first they tried to say the car was left partially on except it wasnt as it gets locked each and everytime due to me carrying a concealed blast-O-Matic. They said it was charging and the battery was holding the charge..... Then they call back and say it is the battery and they wont have a batt till Thursday at which point I had to use my amazing charm and also let them know that I am personal friends of the owners. I recommended they rape one out of another car on the lot which they didnt seem to think was going to happen till the factory rep who was visiting heard the story and said just shove a f***ing battery in it register it and let the guy get his freakin car. I guess I'll get another PITA AGM batt next oil change but I'm thinking run this till the warranty is almost up then get the AGM put back in.

I now have the amazing new 2.40.xx firmware in the beast and a ton of shit has changed, DCT hesitation see ya, idrive is different as far as the screens go, the bluetooth has a whole new look when the phone rings but keep in mind I have only driven it for about 15 minutes so far so i'll try to update on other shit it screwed with and if its better or worse. Car seemed quicker for what ever reason and the RPM matching in the auto mode seems much more pronounced even with the Drive logic Richter scale on 3 bars.

Anybody know why their calling this firmware update a recall, didnt get a chance to ask this morning?

2011 here and no issues at all. Only problem I have is the winter season preventing me from going to the track.
