Widest Tire Sizes for Staggered VMR710

What is the widest tire that can fit on a staggered set of VMR710 wheels (19x8.5 et20 and 19x9.5 et22)?

EAS recommends 245/35/19 for the front and 275/30/19 for the rear.

But I was thinking that maybe 255/35/19 for the front and 275/35/19 for the rear. I wanted to try to keep 35-series tires all around for more comfort.

I am interested as well...I went with what they recommend but let me know if the 275, 255s fit and I will step it up next-time.

You can put 255 front, 285 rear.

I'm on different wheels, but I'm running 285/30/19 in the back.

I wouldn't do 285/35, some slight rubbing might occur if you're lowered a bit. On stock suspension it should be ok, but it's a lot easier to run 285/30 without any issues on these wheels.

I was wanting a more comfortable ride. But I also want maximum performance since an extra 10 mm will give me more traction. Therefore, for performance, 275/30/19 would be better. I think I'll go with this size.

Hitting a bump in the road, pot hole, or going over a speed bump in a 30 series vs 35 series tire can't be all that different, right? I mean, I'm not going to be feeling a substantially smoother ride in a 35 series tire vs. a 30 series tire.

Check the Tire Calculator to compare sizes to the OEM size. This way it will give you complete specs on width, height....... and how it would affect your speed odo..

Not possible unfortunately. The 9.5" wide wheel isn't big enough to support that, but the 10" wide CSL wheel is just perfect to have 295 as a maximum sizing. That's what I would suggest, or just going with 275/285 on the V710s which do not come in a 10" wide.

285/35 will fit fine if lowered, just make sure your offsets are equivalent or less aggressive than 10" +20. Also if you purchase a tire that is "square" instead of rounded then you may run into rubbing problems. I do know the PS2 and RE-11's are rounded, not sure about other tires.

Don't you mean 255/35/19 and 275/35/19? I wouldn't go with an aspect ratio lower than 35 on a 275 tire. It'll look like a rubber band and give you about the same amount of ride comfort as one.

I wanted to go with Bridgestone RE-011 as my next tire. However, Bridgestone doesn't make a 275/35/19 tire. Michelin PS2 comes in a 275/35/19 size, but so freakin' expensive at $353. My car loves nails...I've had two nails in less than a year.

Or I could go with Yoko Advan Sport, which comes in 275/35/19, and only $292.

I hear what you are saying...but a 275/30/19 is still not the best option for your 9.5" V710's.

You maybe under the impression that a 275/30/19 is a much bigger tire than it actually is...

The 265/35/19 RE-11 is a better choice for a number of reasons.

The 275/30/19 has a shorter sidewall (vs. 275/35/19 or 265/35/19) which will transmit more NHV to the cabin. (less comfortable ride)

The rolling diameter of the 275/30 is smaller than the stock 265/35 tires (25.6" vs. 26.3"), and the section width differential between the two sizes is only 0.1".

Your rear wheel rim width is only 9.5" (not 10"), so it's not really necessary to upsize to a 275 series tire anyway. Especially if the tire will decrease the overall ride quality...

You would be much better off buying the 265/35/19 over the 275/30/19 tires IMO.

Bridgestone offers the RE-11 in a 265/35/19 size that is the perfect compromise for your new VMR wheels.

LeMans Blue: Thanks for the info. I'm looking at the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo. Discount Tire has a staggered set with tire insurance on all four for only $947 shipped. Car & Driver did a test of summer tires...using the PS2 as the benchmark, and the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo came in second place. I'm seriously considering getting these since they have virtually the same performance as the PS2 without breaking an arm and a leg.

So what do you think about the Ventus V12 Evo in 255/35/19 fronts and 275/35/19 rear? But what's this...I saw you made a post and said that these tires are already discontinued...noooo....where did you hear this? If it's true, that defeats me having tire insurance because I would want the exact same tire if I need a replacement.
