M3 DCT Shift Light problem
HI all, I am a new M3 e92 owner, just pick up my 2011 LCI e92 M3 DCT, still under the run in period. But I found one strange problem regarding the shift light but I can't solve it, so want to seek the M3 professional here to help.
First, my car does not have the M Drive and EDC option. And I found the gear shift light never comes up (but I have only tried the engine RPM up to 5500 something, close to 6,000), but the gear shift light never comes up. I have checked the iDrive menu under the M Setting, and the Shift Light is "on". So, may I know whether I have done anything wrong or if the shift light will never on as I don't have the M Drive option installed. Please kindly help and advise. Thanks.

on the signal changing lever, press the scroll button part upwards as if you are going to adjust brightness or change the time or whatever. there should be a setting for shift lights there

OP, you'll find that the shift lights strafe very quickly across the tach very close to redline. I find that they come on some where around 6,800rpm-7,200rpm and when I was first learning the car would need to think to shift by 7,700rpm to click the paddle by redline. I've only had my car a short while and already a combination of the first blink of the shift lights and the increasing crescendo allows for well timed S5 shifts. Enjoy

Guys. Just because I'm super cool and can afford an M3 with a glove compartment doesn't mean your M3s are not good. They are probably just as good. BTW, I didn't want to mention FM (floor mats). Yep, got that too.

+1, even if you've set it on iDrive you still have to turn the shift lights on with the signal lever/button...at least that was the case for me. Even the in Idrive it swas "on", when I used the cluster and signal stock to check the lights were "off". Also, the lights are reactive to each gear and drivelogic setting you are in, so certain gears the lights will come on earlier/later than others...but regardless, you do have to stand on the throttle a bit to get the lights to go on..
